Would you still drink beer if it had no alcohol, but was the same in every other way?

I'd probably drink a lot of it, mixed with a super clean Vodka though!

Beer buzz is the last thing on my mind when drinking craft beer.

but when that first beer hits, your mind thanks you. Don't fight it, just know where to draw the line.

Amen Brother. I can not believe how many people are chiming in with their nonsense. The buzz is important ? Absolutely not. Sure in my 20's but not now.

If mice didn't satisfy your instinctive need to hunt and kill, would you still eat them?

Does anyone else see this as possibly being the next beer trend? It would certainly be a badge of honor to be able to make a nonalcoholic (or extremely low alcohol, so as not to incite misnomer accusations) beer that actually tastes good. In fact the brewing process would undoubtably be more complex. Perhaps a method could be employed in which a secondary boil takes place after fermentation. During the secondary boil more hops could be added, with dry hop additions afterword. I applaud the recent session IPA trend, and am always looking for lower alcohol beer (that does not stop me from looking for the higher ABV ones as well). My ideal everyday beer would range from 2-4% however, and not in the <2% range. But that's just my tiny little cat brain speaking. Meow meow.

so you're gonna come here and tell us that fermentation that has been common practice for thousands of years is wrong because you're scared to get buzzed for one reason or another? Scram

I find the pursuit of intoxication a juvenile one. I'll admit it took sometime for me to come around to this way of thinking.
It's sad that many think otherwise. Drink for the flavor & remember your days.

I'm inclined to disagree. I do not like super-sweet flavors, and I hardly touch soft drinks unless I have nothing else to drink. Call me crazy, but I LIKE bitter tastes. Unless you can back up your claims with reliable sources, I have no reason to believe people would not like coffee or tea if it was naturally decaffeinated.

If beer indeed did not contain alcohol and each style still had the same qualities, than I'd likely find myself at taphouses and road tripping to breweries far, FAR more often. Driving after downing simply isn't worth it.

Hmm good question, I could go either way on this. I will say that I would be drinking this alcohol free beer at work instead of green tea everyday.

Yes. I've always said if your goal is to get drunk, you should just drink grain alcohol.

The big "if" is if the beer tastes exactly the same. Exactly.

It's 50/50 for me. 50% of the reason I drink beer is cuz of the taste. The other 50 goes to the buzz that it ensues. So, it would suck... but I'd still drink 1-2 a night. I still crave the taste.

I knew where you were coming from. I like the taste now, just imagine killing a few Bombers of Double Barrel Jesus and still walking away, of course bloated but still functioning.

I wouldn't touch a drop. Beer is too costly to the wallet, to the waist line and to liver functionality. If I'm not going to catch a buzz by spending money and consuming calories, I may as well do it with great food. As wonderful as well made beer is, it's got nothing on well made food.

I'd just drink whiskey and wine and be a happy man.

I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread.

This is ridiculous. Because someone may want a buzz they should instantly turn to grain alcohol? Wanting to feel buzzed is "juvenile?" You have to be kidding me. I guess that means some people (probably the ones making these statements) can't handle 1 or 2 strong beers and stop. It's all or nothing?

I think it takes more of a mature adult to know when to walk away or, I know this is crazy, have one bomber of a 10+% bomber and then say, "ok, I'm done." It's takes some judgement to call wanting a buzz "juvenile." Ivory tower, much? Jesus.

I honestly can't believe I've seen the day on this site where someone can't LIKE what they taste and get a buzz doing so. Or, being called juvenile for it. Literally, insane, IMO.
