Whelp, Bham gets another one: http://www.bellinghamtaptrail.com/i...g-number-of-bellingham-breweries-in-planning/ I've actually met these folks a couple times (I was supposed to help with some bottling, but our scedules didn't quite mesh), and they're nice. Good luck to them.
Sounds cool, but also sounds like a lot of different things happening under one roof. Hope it doesn't get too complicated.
Well, the thing is, you can't make wine and beer in the same place. That's why Two Beers had to open Seattle Cider "next door". There's a Meadery/cidery here in town that would love to brew, but they don't have the resouces to open a second location, and the current spot isn't conducive to being split up.
Why is this? Is it just some stupid law or does it have to do with yeast, cross-contamination etc.? If the former, the libertarian in me says, "bullshit." If the former, all of me just says, "oh, I didn't know that." Oh and yay! Another brewery.
Legal thing. Distilleries can distill, breweries can brew, anything else is considered wine (at least that's my understanding. been wrong before.), and that's why cider, mead, and wine can be in the same place. Maybe the laws are agriculture based? Dunno. But, pretty much all it takes is a wall, like Two Beers/Seattle Cider.
