I'm all out of hops, no aroma without you
I know you were right, dryhopping for so long
I'm all out of hops, no IPA without you?
I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong

This was my first year buying hops in bulk. I bought 5 pounds early this year and they are gone.
After experiencing the sub $1/ounce pricing I cannot go back to buying from the LHBS.

I know it is late in the seasone but so just ordered 5 more. I hope they last until the new harvest.

Anyone else have to go back and order more?

Now is the time to take advantage of sales to clear out last years hops as well as the new New Zealand harvest.

where are you finding 1lb(+) availability for NZ + AUS hops?

I keep checking here, but to no avail:

I just picked up some 1/2pound incriments over at Yakima Valley Hops to get me through the rest of the year. Unfortunately, it looks like the 2012 AU Galaxy are already sold out (glad I got some:slight_smile:).

Are you buying 5 lbs of the same variety? That just seems boring to me. I rarely use the same variety with enough frequency to go through 5 lbs. So, the extra cost is worth it to me to change it up. But I'm only brewing about a batch or two a month.
Also, I'm just curious, how many hop varieties are available at the lhbs in Khorugh? Are there many varieties that grow in that area?
And, I hop to see the rest of that song soon!!!!

No, one pound each Apollo, Bravo, Nugget, Columbus, and Czk Sazz. Pretty much the same as I had before except I tried Serebrianka instead of Cz Sazz, but I wanted the Sazz this time. I had alot of fun trying out single hop experiments with these and would like to try some more, and some combos. And this is what is available at hopsdirect.

I dont really know. Dont believe everything you read on the internet .

Yeah, that question proves the need for a sarcasm font.
I kinda have a feeling the homebrew scene in that area might be a bit sparse.

Half pounds are a good way to go. I like pellets better now (used to be 100% leaf) for the main reason of storage in case I don't get through a certain variety in one year.

Not alot of variety there, but the prices are outstanding...beware of shipping though!!!

just ordered 1# each of chinook, ctz, apollo & centennial to help round the bend. Still have enough willamette, simcoe, cascade, hallertau & amarillo left to get me to that November-ish release of pellets iirc...

thread-jack: How do you store your hops after you break open the seal on a 1#+ bag of hops? Mason jars, or should I be investing in a vacuum sealer?

Vacuum sealer is best, but I just roll it up, squeeze out the air, rubber band it, and store my hops in the freezer. Haven't noticed any degradation of oils over 1.5 years.

When I brewed over the weekend, I noticed some freezer odor on my hops. I'm hoping the fact that they were bittering additions will make this ok instead of worse.

Same thing here, but doesn't carry over even in knockout/dry hops. YMMV of course.

Get a sealer that does both bags and mason jars. Note: the attachment to do mason jars normally isn't included. It utilizes a hose.

I'm looking forward to stocking up on the base stuff. Centennial, Citra, Simcoe, Amarillow, Nugget, Willamette in October.

My LHBS guy said Citra's year was this past harvest. He said don't expect Citra to be as great as it was in the past... Who knows.

I have not heard that, is it because the plants are mature? Does your LHBS guy know that the acreage of Citra has about doubled this year? Lots of new acres of Citra.
