I just don't really get why so many people like certain beers in the summer and certain beers in the winter and so on. I drink all beers all year long and feel bad for people that feel they can't drink imperial stouts in the summer etc.

How do you guys feel about it? Seasonal drinker? Or year round drinker?

Definitely not an avid seasonal drinker. And tend to avoid a lot of the generic seasonal-type releases.

Having said that, I'd say there's probably a higher chance of me reaching for an APA on a 90 degree summer day, than an RIS. And vice versa in winter.

While I don't exactly crave Black Tuesday at a 4th of July BBQ, I am a "year round" drinker as you say.

I'd say I'm somewhat seasonal. When it's warm, I want to be outside. When I'm outside, I'm probably not throwing down a room temp KBS. Definitely drinking more lower ABV, lighter styles this time of year.

Does the hot weather make people want lower alcohol beers? Or just beers that are a little lighter in color?

When Its summer I'm outside and I want to be able to drink a beer without it making me full and dehydrated. I start drinking more session beers and kolschs and hefe's because they are tasty to me while being light. I don't like light feeling stouts and imperial beers are never very light tasting. It doesn't mean I wont enjoy a heavier beer every once in a while it just becomes less common for me to do so. I like my stouts and dopplebocks on the warm side so that might have something to do with it.

Both as far as I'm concerned. Neither a 4% dry irish stout or a 12% DIPA are really beers I crave on a hot day either

I don't really get that either. I drink what I like and when I like. Thank you very much! Besides, I can't stand 98% of all Summer and Spring releases. Just don't like those styles.

I often drink seasonally and hold people who don't in a volatile mix of pity and contempt.

I drink seasonally, that is I drink seasonal releases and look forward to them every year, but I drink all beers in all kinds of seasons.

I'd never, and I mean never, turn down a good beer any time of year! Could be 110 degrees and I'd drink a BA stout, likewise it could be 10 degrees and I'd still drink a good Kolsch. However I do love that there are seasonal beers to look forward too. And I'm a fiend for good pumpkin ales

As others have said, I'll drink anything at any time, but I get more of a craving for lighter beers in the summer, and heavier beers in the winter, so I understand the purpose of seasonals.

My tastes really depend on my mood, which the season contributes to a lot so I may fall more into the "seasonal" camp. I mostly drink IPA's and Double IPA's year round, but I will reach for a Pale Ale or Pils in the spring/summer while grilling or fire-pitting. Generally not a fan of "session" ales though. Fall/Winter does make me want something a little heavier to warm me up. I do have to have a couple of Oktoberfest beers in the fall along with some Nosferatu Imperial Red. Maybe it's marketing.....I may not even be in the mood for those, but when I see them released I have to buy a pack or two for the season....it just feels right.

I don't make rules on seasonal drinking, but I definitely find myself steering more towards crisper lighter beers during the summer and less giant stouts. During the other seasons, anything goes. I usually burn out on Christmas/spice beers after a month or so in December though.

Hard to imagine that you can't understand the logic behind seasonal preferences - despite your own personal choices. If you can't fathom how weather can compliment any sort of food or beverage, than that is just odd. I feel bad FOR YOU

I'll drink whatever whenever...but it's nice to have a lighter more refreshing beer during hotter months and something with more boozy warmth in the colder months. As a homebrewer, I look forward to seasonal beers as something different from my usual routine.

Don't feel bad for me. I much prefer the seasonality element of some beers. I like to drink in the summer. It's hot. The actual act of consuming liquid that I enjoy makes me feel good. I don't care about drinking so much in the winter. One bigger beer works just great for me at such times of the year.
