Heh - glad to be of service
I've had Landlord a number of times in the past and have generally found it to be a solid, tasty ale. However, I guess I just didn't warm entirely to the bottle. In general I've found that the more time I spend reviewing beers on BA and trying new stuff, the more I've come to view old favourites in a less favourable light. I suppose that's what's meant by 'educating your palate'. Still, cask Landlord is quality.

Edit: UK comment no. 1000! Wooooo

    Only if it's frozen!
Lovely beer, it even suffers the indignity and dumbing down of being bottled remarkably well, had some when it was on offer at Morrison's recently.
I've a soft spot for Tim Taylor's, my grandson was born in Keighley

one of my local breweries, just about 2.5 miles away. The cask, is of course, the superior product which will, sadly, never get over to the US even though we've tried to persuade them to send some for NERAX.

Oh, and over here we score drugs and we rent beer.

well done that man, a decent enough brew even in a bottle but you should get over here and have a pint on cask.

I noticed a while back Shelton Bros. got a US label approval but have never seen it on any shelf and it's not listed on SheltonBros' website. Looks like there are a few reviews lately from the US that appear to be US-bought bottles.

Cask Landloard is a good pint but I find it does suffer more than most from anything less than tip top cellaring and care.

My 4 bottles showed up today. They are a bit too warm so I'm putting one in the fridge for a short spell.

I'm drinking it now. It looks like it was bottled Dec 13(code reads L1347) but it is POWER PACKED with flavour and is impressing the hell out of me. The online store I bought them from only had 10 bottles in stock; I wish I had done the full monty and bought them all.

Don't worry...at the pub I worked at, we always looked after landlord more than any other cask tap. The feedback always said that it was sublime...to me personally, I didn't think too much of it though but each to their own I guess. We certainly kept it at a good temperature unlike Wetherspoons' ales...

Sadly,I never found Landlord to be worthy of all the acclaim it got. I always wanted to it to be better than I found it but it always lacked something for me to praise it.

I know where you are coming from
I would call it a bog standard bitter, without however meaning it as a bad thing.

Yeah see my post above "a solid beer". An excellent example of the style however the style itself can't really get as interesting as a stout or ipa. However I always award extra marks in reviews for "quaffability"!

First tried it in a pub in Chorlton I think it was but soon went back onto Wilson's :grinning:

I used to drink Wilson's mild in a pub in Withington where the landlord was a fanatic of it, blimey it was good.

I'm sure I said it before, that I miss some of the old big brewery cask bitters and milds.
