I'm visiting Escondido Jan 10-17. I'm naming on going to Stone and pizza port obviously. And we'll be going to LA for a day. What else should I do while in the area? I'd also be open to suggestions for things to do in LA while I'm there. Beer related and un-beer related.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Disneyland? Maybe get along the Coast and find a place that rents bikes and ride along the paved trails on the beaches?
Disneyland makes for a looooooooong day though, but I enjoy the place. They serve beer...

While in the SD area be sure to hit Societe Brewing and Modern Times. For beer bars Toranado is an obvious choice, but a bit of a drive from Escondido. Green Flash, Ballast Point, Alesmith are all very close to each other, so that's a good option as we'll. Lost Abbey is always great and not too far away as well.

In LA hit up Surly Goat and Blue Palm, both very close to all the tourist stuff (Grauman's, walk of fame, etc). El Segundo brewing is doing some cool stuff and that's not far outside LA.

    Enjoy!

Check out Plan 9 Alehouse. Cool beer bar that occasionally has some of their own awesome beers. Oh and Rockin Jenny's Subs is an Escondido staple.

Edit: and Urge in Rancho Bernardo

Rip Current, Churchill's, Sublime, Urge, Plan 9, Lost Abbey. All within ~15 minutes of each other.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Keep 'me coming!

I'll have to research all of these and figure out how to check them all out. I had already planned on visiting AleSmith and Lost Abbey (basically anything I saw on BrewDogs SD episode). Probably wont do Disneyland since we're supposed to be going to Disneyworld in October.

Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach is a must while on your one day visit to LA.

Tacos El Gordo is the business. I live in Chula Vista, and I try to go as much as possible.

Stone, LA, Societe, and Rip Current are musts. Alpine is a drive, but if you can swing it I'd say do it in a heartbeat.

I'm flying Southwest , so I get 2 free checked bags. I'm a light packer, so bottle shops are appreciated! I plan on packing about 10 lbs of clothes, which means ill have 90lbs of empty space for bottles!

If you're going to make it down to PP Solana Beach, I'd recommend that you check out Torrey Pines State Park. Very cool hiking area.

Or take your clothes in a carryon, and get 2 12-bottle Styrofoam shippers. Works well with Southwest.

Many will disagree because of Blackfish but I recommend Sea World. They have big sea mammals that swim in water. Also you can shoot the patrons with water cannons. So then there's that.
