What's is the difference between the two IPA's I'm just shopping around and want to know the difference between so I can make the right choice.

It's just a size differentiation- Imperials are bigger and stronger.

So no real difference between them except strength and presentation ok . I found New Belgium Voodoo and Imperial Voodoo and was wondering what the difference was thanks.

Some breweries in the past added 'Imperial" to the name of their stronger(est) beer generally to mean it contained higher ABV. So an IIPA or DIPA is usually stronger (as in more alcohol) than the same brand's regular IPA.

That said I've come across a number of regular APAs and IPAs that were above 6% which for me is pretty darn strong.

My vote is purchase each and do a side by side, great way for insight.

Remember, find IPAs that are somewhat fresh. Within a month or so to give yourself time to drink it. Check the dates!

    I know you're not asking me, but I'll answer anyways.. I don't think there's really a difference, just a different name/marketing.

Yeah, those are identical- just personal preference on which one to use.

IMO a big difference in taste profiles. IPAs IMO are heavier on the bitter, most Doubles not so much, the heavier malt balances things out quite a bit. Most IPAs are in the 7% range, a good many Dipas are 8+. There are exceptions Mongo is pretty bitter, Hopsickle is as well, and Hop Craic IMO is painfully so , but typically doubles are fairly user friendly. I like both, but I seriously prefer beers like Heady.

In those two, 2% ABV for one thing.

Many times the IIPAs have lower perceived bitterness and are maltier compared with regular IPAs. I suppose this is due to using more malt in the recipe to get the higher ABV, but I'm no brewer, so what do I know...

To me they mean the same thing but the practical use for a brewer is to come out with two new labels instead of just one. Or even three if they change the grain bill a bit and make an Imperial Red.

    New Salem or just Salem?

I'm maybe 40 minutes south of Salem. If it's Salem you're referring to, you need to visit your Grandparents and visit Fox Farm Brewery. They are putting out some fantastic IPAs/Pale Ales.
