Just a reminder that the 2nd Annual "Imminent Liquidation" bottle share will be held at the Central PA Hotel & Conference Center (aka Best Western Premier) in Harrisburg, PA this Saturday from 1pm to 5pm.

In addition to all of the beer, there will be raffles and door prizes. Don't forget to bring a tasting glass!

Please check out the official BA event listing for more details.

    Cheers!

One beer, or dozens? Tough call!

Sadly, I won't be able to make it. The event at the Sutter was fantastic last year; really wish I could attend this time around. For those who are going, could you re-post the Google doc with the list of who's bringing what?

So Deuane, did the beer match the hype this year?

Is it really that hard a decision? There will be an ocean of great beer at the Harrisburg event, and you likely won't have to stand in line for any of it. On the other hand, you could attend Capone's, likely stand in line for at least an hour, all so you hopefully can get a single 5 or 6 ounce glass of younger (with throngs of other folks clamoring at the bar). Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of younger and Capone's, but this really seems like a no brainer to me.

I think it's a no brainer, too though I've already had Younger. See you folks in Harrisburg!

Well for other people who have missed Younger several times it's a tougher decision and not just a no brainer. I find some of your posts entertaining. You contradict yourself to an extent. There will be "throngs" of other folks clamoring at Imminent Liquidation as well so the crowd isn't the issue. Also you always seem to find some negative point for everything regardless of how good it is or can be. For example in your support of Troegs' move to Hershey you say it is a great new place, but you add negativity to it by saying you won't be heading there too often because the traffic is bad. Just one of my observations.

You see that as a contradiction? Interesting... Sounds like we may have a different point of view as to what constitutes a contradition.

At least for me, I try to see the pros and cons in any situation. There rarely are solely both, so one has to weigh their options. In the case of the BA event, I've attended some in the past, so I think I have a pretty good idea what to expect. There will likely be a decent crowd at the Liquidation event, but I'm virtually certain it won't compare to the younger event at Capone's. I say that from experience, as I did attend the Capone's younger event two years ago. I've also attended a number of Philly beer week events at Capone's, so I think I know what I'm talking about when I mention the likely crowd on Saturday. As for the Harrisburg BA event, I expect there'll be a crowd (there always is), but there's just so much beer available, there's always something interesting you can grab without any wait. So I think it's fairly easy to distinguish the two different experiences, and yes, in my book it's a no brainer in terms of which is likely to be the better event. I'll stand by that statement.

All that aside, I do understand the allure of younger. However, at least for me, the upside doesn't come close to balancing the downside. The downside includes: small pours, a one glass limit, a long (presumably) wait in line to get in, overwhelmed staff, difficulty finding a place to stand or sit. Maybe it will be difficult to find a place to stand or sit at the event in Harrisburg, but otherwise none of the other negative factors apply.

As I mentioned in the prior younger post, at least for me, the beer isn't so wonderful that I think an hour or two hour wait in line is justified. However, as I acknowledged, there are plenty of folks who feel otherwise, and I dont' recall making any negative aspersions regarding their decision to put up with it. I simply mentioned that it isn't for me.

Shrug.... it's just my opinion Stormking47. I wasn't questioning your decision-making process, just simply noting that in my opinion, it's really no decision at all. That's all... (though I am flattered that you find some of my posts entertaning...).

I understand that it's your opinion and you're entitled to it I'm simply stating my opinion as well. You're never going to please everyone when it comes to this hobby and limited beers. I was just bringing to light that more & more people are finding this hobby daily and want to try the latest & greatest. I myself have been to numerous events at Capone's and PBW as well as numerous events around the Greater Harrisburg area and other events in travel. So I too know what I am talking about. It's very simple get there early & it won't be a problem. I was also bringing to light that it isn't a no brainer when choosing events, you could very easily make the argument for both sides, especially if you're new to the hobby. It would just simply depend on your own personal opinion and preference.

"It's very simple get there early & it won't be a problem." Agreed, though I have a hard time viewing that as no problem.

"I was also bringing to light that it isn't a no brainer when choosing events, you could very easily make the argument for both sides, especially if you're new to the hobby." Maybe... I don't know if I agree, but I'll concede your point, especially for someone who is just dying to try younger at all costs (and I guess can't afford a plane ticket to California).

"It would just simply depend on your own personal opinion and preference." Agreed. If you just had to sample younger at all costs and nothing else mattered to you, then I can see where you'd rather go the Capone's event. However, I do have to say that IMHO, I find that a rather extreme viewpiont. However, that in no way invalidates your point. :-)

It sure did Tom. C and I had a GREAT time in Santa Rosa. Between the two times we were at RR I forced myself to drink 15 PtY's, 12 on Friday and a follow up 3 Sunday evening. We also got to visit other great places in the area and treated ourselves to a LONG overdue pilgrimage to Chico and the holy shrine there that is Sierra Nevada Brewing Company!

Just as an "oh by the way..." I belong to several wine clubs and so have accumulated a number of shipping boxes over the past couple of years. I plan to bring a bunch with me for this event (mostly 6 pack and full case shippers), so if anyone wants some, just let me know during the event (I'll be the guy wearing the black PtY shirt). I'll probably bring around a half dozen or so, so first come and all that.... right now they're just collecting dust in my basement so I'd like to unload them.
