    A few questions:
    1. Aside from your typical IPAs or Stouts what beer style would be acceptable at a higher ABV to consume
    2. What beer style would you gravitate to if it was dubbed "Imperial"? keep in mind IPA and Stouts are not acceptable answers for this exercise frankly because they are too common.
    3. do you consider say dopplebock the "imperial" version of a traditional bock ? or a triple an "imperial" version of a belgian blond?

I could go for an imperial wheatwine right about now. I don't shy away from a tremendous buzz. More wheatwines in general would be a nice change of pace

What is and imperial wheat-wine? Wheat-wine by itself is 8-12% how high is an "imperial" version?

You answered 1 question out of 3. but i thank you for your imput.

    1. Any style is acceptable as an imperial, even a traditionally low abv style since you are designating it 'imperial'.

    2. I don't gravitate towards any styles simply because they are imperial. If I was going to give an answer, it would be IPAs and Stouts.

    3. Doppelbocks ARE imperial bocks. 'Doppel' is German for Double.

So Imperial Gose? Imperial Berliner Weise? Are those something you'd consume?
I know Doppel means double but as a style a doppelbock and an "imperial" Helles bock look totally different.

What do you mean by "dubbed" imperial?

a style such as Imperial Pilsner or Imperial Saison or Imperial Kolsch. Just a higher ABV version of a style and thus they slapped an Imperial prefix.

Imperial beeline would be nice. I love the way they taste, but ya gotta drink 1000 of em to feel anything!

OK, I stick with my original choice of imperial wheatwine which 'would' clock in around 15%. I don't care if that's acceptable to anyone. I gravitate to beers that taste good, not because of their title

Not sure if I've had an Imperial gose but only a matter of time. I've had plenty of imperial berliners and love them. Just look at de gardes imperial bu series.

Helles means light. A helles bock is not a 'standard' bock, which is dark. A doppelbock is a double bock aka imperial.

Well since you took out the IPA and Stout choices then Imperial Porter is the obvious choice. Barleywine, wee heavy's and old ales are all "imperial" strength and are favorites as well.

Helles also means "bright" or "pale" so you have a pale 9% Imperial Helles.
Now take a Doppel Bock that is typically (not always) darker ruby to brown in colour and say its at 9% also.
Does that mean that the Imperial Helles is also a Doppel Bock?

Bocks don't really exist in Germany, at least as a single style. It's really referring to a group of "starkbiers." The few beers there labeled as just Ur-Bock or Bock are basically the same strength as "doppelbocks."

No, because Munich Helles Lager is not a bock at all

well the lovely people at the BJCP would disagree with you and lump Maibock and Helles Bock together under section 5A.

Helles bock is not the same thing as a Munich Helles Lager. My mistake, I thought you guys were talking about Munich Helles.
