    Cross posted with WBAYDN: 8 Wired 11th anniversary iStout double imperial. At $10/12 is I was reluctant for a new recommendation, as even the beer guy hadn’t tried it yet. Stellar! No adjuncts, no barrel aging. I’d swear it sat in barrels, but on lingering flavors, I think it must be double mashed? Super dark with a dark stone fruit middle. Not overly sweet or off like the Komes RIS. Has a traditional RIS aroma, although Im not sure this is intended as a RIS. 15% ABV hides well, but has the slightest burn to cut those dark flavors. In any event, a good drink.

    Ive got an imperial stout to share after a trip to Barreled Souls last weekend, and a ton of tasty stouts, but simply not in the mindset nor capacity to take photos of what I drank.
    Got a busy soccer weekend with my daughter's team so only one beer tonight, but should be back with a few tomorrow.
    This is tree House Quadruple Shot Extra Dark 11.2% imp stout with a lot of added coffee.

    Onto my review:

    Sampling this 12 oz bottle poured at cellar temp into my snifter. The beer pours a thick jet black color into my glass and almost no head to speak of upon entry, but a little tan fizzy bubble layer comes up a few seconds later. This foam fades quickly to an edge layer.
    Aroma is dark malts, with roasted hits, dark chocolate, coffee grounds, a bit of charred wood and faint brown sugar notes. No hops nor booze notes.
    Definitely very roast forward.
    First sip reveals a smooth textured beer with fine rolling carbonation and a slightly oily feel and fairly thick body. Definitely a little coating on each swallow.
    Flavor is very briefly brown sugar and then rolls to coffee grounds and a bit of roasted malt and dark chocolate. Not a lot of sweet notes here, but not aggressively bitter from the roast and coffee either.
    Never get any booze hints here which is impressive for 11.2%.
    Quite a nice Imperial stout
    4.36 in the BA DB.

    So this happened, but its garbage cuz they used the Totalitarian recipe for it instead of OG IRS recipe.
    to add more garbage: they removed the Russian from the name like that changes anything at all.
    Maybe not garbage but not something i will seek out after waiting for this all fuckin year

    A Noon Whistle/Binnys Bev Depot collaboration, No Sleep Til Bardstown a BA stout. Thick'n chewy, nice head and a bit of lacing. Bourbon is upfront, some chocolate and some roasted malts. It's a bit sweet, but the flavors are there. Smooth, creamy and really sticky. It's good, but probably not something I'd buy again.

    My first time drinking this one. Am I crazy or does it have a grapefruit-kinda flavor? I get a bit of the roasted malt and alcohol, but there's definitely a citrus/melon quality.

    I’ve had only one bottle from my new six-pack, and I thought it had a weird aftertaste that I could not identify. I’ve always enjoyed Narwhal in past years.

    ages excellently. to me, the best candidates for aging as far as stouts go, are non-BA RIS.

    Barreled Souls - Teotihuacan. Big dark cocoa and smokey chile flavors in the aroma and flavor. Definitely has a spicey kick to balance the mild sweetness. Thick, full bodied. A little boozy.

    Sampling one of the many brews I brought home after a trip to Maine. This is Foundation Brewing Dark Omen Imperial Stout. 11.2%.

    Onto my review:

    Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz can poured into my snifter. Beer was picked up at the brewery last weekend. Label says packaged winter of 2022, but it is only October 2022 as I type this....time travel order?
    The beer pours a coffee black color with thin dense beige head fizzing up and fading away quickly to an edge layer
    Nose is definitely a little boozy with hints of bourbon and dark chocolate and a bit of vanilla. NO hop character on the nose.

    First sip reveals a smooth texture and medium to thick body. Carbonation is soft and gentle and very mild. Beer drinks pretty easy on the physical traits.
    Flavor is rich chocolate, brown sugar and bourbon and vanilla. Maybe a little caramel or toffee in there too. No fusol heat or black pepper bite from the ABV and no hop presence.
    I find this to be an easy drinking big stout with smooth texture and sweet but definitely not over the top flavor profile.
    Well made, glad I have more cans.

    enjoying an Elijah Craig barrel-aged Zangief. thanks to @TurkeysDrinkBeer for this one - it was incredible. perfect balance of oak, whiskey, leather, chocolate and a touch of dark fruits for good measure. thick mouthfeel. really enjoyed this one. cheers!

    My first time having it recently also and I really enjoyed it but agree on the odd citrus notes underneath the surface in there and I attribute it to the usual SN yeast/hops, as it has a familiar flavor profile to me. I am going to age at least one bottle and see how it tastes in a few months. I have been really enjoying it but if one wants a more traditional, smoother Stout taste I would not nominate this beer when it's on the fresher end (just like I would not nominate Bigfoot for Barleywines when it's fresh).

    Yeah, my thought while finishing the bottle was that it was likely the hops, but hadn't considered the yeast. I'll set maybe 2 bottles aside for a while. Should be interesting.

    SN uses a fairly neutral yeast strain (Chico) and I think that is what is used in this but if you cool that yeast a bit I have heard that it can give off some fruity tastes which is what I think may be going on here in combination with the hops.

    I too am looking forward to seeing what it evolves into over a few months.
