I’m not sure. I’m assuming that it is, but I’ll have to check. I bought it this past Wednesday.

That’s the first indicating I’ve seen of anyone saying it was infected. Have you seen other posts/reviews here or on untappd? I haven’t scoured or anything, this just struck me as odd.

Couple of reviews in the last year here mention odd fruit notes, vinegar, soy sauce, and/or a thin body. Didn't seem to be very widespread though. I'm typically a very generous reviewer and I did not like this at all.

Yeah, I agree. Had this same conversation with @BigIronH over on the Cigsrs thread. This brewery, Round Guys, makes a “Russian Messenger “ Imperial Stout, too.

They stopped brewing the best beer they brewed and I’m still pissed. I have emailed them and they never reply so a brewery that is dead to me now. Oh, Fear of a Brett planet. One of my favorite beers and with a bit of time it was great.

    Enjoy

Yeah I haven't seen that one for years. IMO, their best beers are (Formerly Russian) Messenger, The Last Waltz Baltic Porter, and Nautical Disaster barleywine.

For the most part their beers are just okay, but their brewpub is a nice place to hang out right in the walkable downtown part of Lansdale, and they do good things for causes in the community. They've also sponsored my rugby club in the past so I have a soft spot for them in that regards.

They did just release the 2022 version. I purchased this last year and came upon a prominent buttery aroma which was off-putting to me. I had noticed some others were getting a buttery characteristic on untappd as well. I have a lot of respect for Brooklyn Brewery so more than willing to give it another chance.

Nothing but respect for Brooklyn, if I see it I will surely buy it.

[IMG] Here today to sing the praises of this beer; Demon Mare 2022 from Perrin Brewing in Grand Rapids MI.

From the bottle: “Feel its presence first, see it second. You scream, nothing comes out. Try to move, you can’t. Held down by the Demon Mare. Double Oak barrel aged for the Demons double dream. This imperial stout has been laid down in multiple fresh bourbon barrels for 18 months.”

Pours a deep cola brown with a decent oatmeal colored foamy head. The head quickly receded to a substantial ring. Nose is vanilla, black cherry, raisins, bakers chocolate, burnt oak, and brown sugar. Taste follows suit in the best way with the sweeter notes up front followed by a bitter coffee and warming bourbon overtones mingle with everything without over taking anything. At 16.3% this beer drinks like 10%. So incredibly smooth with excellent barrel notes but never alcohol burn. This is a top contender for my beer of the year. I’m going 4.75/5 across the board. Cheers boys.

Not much coffee flavor this year, and to me, that's a good thing cuz I hate added junk in my beer, other than that, besides be awesome, this stuff's cheap compared most BA Stouts. Kudos Lagunitas!

Humble Forager/Angry Chair collab Swingin' Sticks Imperial Sweet Stout, 13% ABV. Nose is coconut, caramel and chocolate. Taste follows, plus nuts, with coconut up front, quite sweet, slightly bitter.

Fremont 12th anniversary stout with cherries. This tastes like someone dumped cough syrup into my beer. They should never have let this hit the bottling line. Did anyone actually enjoy this?

Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Madcap Columbian Coffee
Got hit with a nice aroma of coffee and dark malt upon prying the tab open .
Poured thick into glass and got about 1 inch of dome that receded into 1/8or so.
Flavor is all fuckin beautiful medium roast coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, dark malts and some light caramel/vanilla on the backend. Drinks damned smooth and comes in at 11.5%
This is just as good as Cafe Deth and Crushing Mass . Definitely worth seeking out for any BA Imperial Stout drinker in this thread. I will for sure seek out more.

Gave this an overall score of 4.22
