This may be my closer. Heard great things about this one. The sixtel kicked but they found one last one so if your in the area may want to grab one or three before it’s all gone on draft.

    Firestone Walker 2022 Parabajava

    Brewery Notes:
$8.25 + $0.78 tax & tip for a 6 oz draft pour. 14.0% ABV, Russian Imperial Stout. First pour from a new sixtel.

Appearance: Ruby red to black base in the bright overhead light, looks black without the bright light. A few tan bubble around the rim. 4.0

Aroma: Nice dark roast coffee at first, but it is overpowered as this warms by a nice smooth bourbon, pretty much a neat pour. Liking it, but surprised the coffee left the building. 4.25

    Taste:
A lot going on here and it’s all excellent. Getting the sweet notes of toffee and caramel leading over the milk chocolate I’m getting from the base. Tingly sweet. Getting a light coffee, more a diner cup than a dark roast picked up initially on the nose. Tertiary, but not last in enjoyment, is a nice smooth bourbon backed by oak notes. As I work further, now 20 minutes post pour, the bourbon returns with a vengeance to take command. 4.75

    Mouthfeel:
Sweet caramel toffee bites keep coming to the forefront, bourbon barrel adds some balance but edges to leads sweet throughout. Medium body, faint carbonation. 1/3 of the way in and this is strong but I’d say a feels bit under the hefty 14% ABV. Catch me outside after the remaining 2/3. Light caramel lingers wonderfully. 4.25

    Overall:
More like a winding rollercoaster than a straight shoot, this takes you to a lot of places, and they are all fun. Don’t recall a ping pong match in a coffee stout more than this one. I’d like to have a bit more dark roast flavor, but beyond that I’d change little with this great offering. Firestone Walker does it again! 4.5

If I checked bags, I’d bring a bunch of this and Wookey Jack home, hope to find both in Chicago.

Yeti, canned Sept. 2021. Very nice right now - nice smooth mildly roasty dark chcocolate flavor. Nice a bit of underlying hops. Nice dry finish.

I really enjoy BA stouts, and I think I agree. Most BA stouts, esp Russian, I think are not as good as base beers. I prefer Narwhal, Expedition and Ten-Fidy over the BA versions.

    This is good![IMG]

Crap . I never made the correlation between BA Stouts I prefer the base of being mostly Russian.

Maybe a Vodka Infused RIS would be better?

DL would be the exception to this rule. that beer was made for BA’ing.

*i should note i think BA Narwhal and BA Expo are pretty damn solid. BA Raspy just thins out too much compared to the base.

    Half Acre
This stuffs been showing up on shelves out here.
    Paid 5.57 for a single.
Chose this over a Speedwaay that sells for a dollar less.
This one is nowhere near Speedway.
    Would not bang again

Update : It taste like hazelnut coffee or some low quality flavored stuff was used. Theres a logo on the beer but I see no text.

I knew this would need an aggressive pour cuz half acre sucks:stuck_out_tongue:

maybe i got an old can or something, but I've had Speedway at 5 years and it's still good.

I don't know. What do you think of this beer Luscious?

haven’t had it in years. and while i really didn’t think much of HA’s stout program, i feel like that’s changed a little recently. Sickle Through Sable, Before Land Shook and a few Benthics were solid.

for what it’s worth i don’t think that can is old. seem that exact can sitting at binny’s and i’d say it just popped up within the last month to month and half.

The only treatment that is appropriate to most Russian imperial stouts is to drop a shot of espresso in it.
