That is not a profile for me. Cinnamon is a no. Chile pepper is usually a no. Only thing worse would be to add marshmallow.

I had that too. I liked it, tasting like a Mackinac Fudge without the name brand…but then I saw “artificial ingredients” on the label. For the prices we pay now, artificial flavors are a deal breaker for me on principle. I try to avoid beers that use adjuncts that might use artificial flavors, too, so cookies, coffee cake, marshmallow, etc. are not my preference. That doesn’t mean I won’t try them and trade any, but they “must” be one and dones. :grimacing:

It’s pretty light on cinnamon and no chilies for me. Kind of tastes like a vanilla stout with a slight hint of cinnamon. Definitely not worth the price, but at least you get a 750ml to share adequately. I’ve had the coffee version and really liked it. Would be interested in trying the BA version, but I think the price would be high

Anyone opening anything special tomorrow? I’m making some chili and pepperoni bread, and might open my Angels Envy BCBS bottle. For now, enjoying this delight

Abuse of Stout from Destination Unknown Brewing in NY. Imperial stout with honey, cocoa nibs, and vanilla. Comes in at 12% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with a thin layer of light brown head. Honestly looks a little thin on the pour. The nose is really nice. Honey, floral, baking chocolate, vanilla, and some light fruit. Pears mostly.

The taste follows the nose. First, the ABV is insanely hidden. This comes across as a fairly diluted stout - shocked by the actual ABV. Chocolate, vanilla, honey, bread, malts, lemon meringue pie, slight cranberry, and a hint of banana.

Mouthfeel is fairly light for a stout. The aftertaste is sweet vanilla and light fruit.

22s of Hop Stoopid were my go-to on Fridays after work for a long time. $4 was such a good deal. Sad that it's not packaged/distributed anymore.

Literally no imperial stouts on the shelf where I live…so when someone in the region deems to brew one, I stock up! This one is from Halifax, NS and is from a stockpile I bought two winters ago. Still great!

@Resistance88 Yes, this is an oddity. I brought it to the Mortalis line crawl / share today. People commented on pouring that it looked like a porter. Despite the name being BLACK Tuesday, it is decidedly brown. For being non-adjuncted, it has a range of complex flavors, most I would categorize as vinous with some
tannins. At 19.5% it slapped people around, but I just finished the half bottle tonight and I feel fine. :smirk: Thanks for the bottle!

I have a few beers in the short list to open tomorrow. Firestone or The Bruery. Still deciding.

BTW for the first time in a long time I saw Alesmith Speedway Stout in bottles today as I was leaving the liquor store. After waiting 45 minutes to check out I wasn’t waiting that long again, but will go back next week. I usually see cans. Have they switched back to bottles? Bat signal for @Resistance88

I’m not a fan of aging their beer, but now am curious about those bottles

Kept my bottles in the refrigerator pretty much since purchase. This is my first time with a Double Barrel Burial so not sure if there was degradation. Given my enjoyment derived i suspect there was not much falloff over a year's time.
    Cheers!

How is Canada not deep into the imperial stouts? My favorite times to drink them are a cold winter day and late on a summer night when the heat has broken, and candanavia has a ton of both
