My Spanish isn't nearly good enough to understand what loroco is, some kind go palm heart right? Either way, it's the best.

I've been making pupusas at home lately and they're pretty legit but definitely have that gringo gap. Something is just missing in the way I'm making the masa and the exact seasoning on the filling.

I moved on to a 2021 version of Bruery's So Happens Its Tuesday. It's interesting. Way thinner than I remember and it's taking on some touch of sourness that I'm hoping will subside as it warms up

@unlikelyspiderperson i have no idea what it is but i don't like it. it's similar to artichoke to me, but I've never looked it up.

Good luck on the pupusa thing, that shit is an art. What i would do is look uo videos of women in El Salvador making them on youtube, its where my wife learned how to make Baleadas. She still hasn't mastered Pupusas cuz they take major practice.

    What's a Baleada you ask?
It's for Hondurans ( my people) what pupusas are for the Salvadoreños. Look them up they're great

In english it translates to " Bullet Shot" .

Shelf turds on sale at the Sahara Summerlin Speedee Mart in Las Vegas. I saved the one I haven’t tried yet, Sir Issac, for tomorrow.

I had a sample and full bottle of this previous, and enjoyed greatly whereas others had mixed reviews.

September 7, 2024 BB. Letting this warm a little, 15 minutes. Getting light pepper, nice coffee, pretty strong. However, just going off of memory, I belief I liked the first bottle better. Still glad I bought, as my brother only had a draft sample pour on Black Friday.

First time having any of the special variations, and all were distinct and top notch. The Special Edition had an amazing strong espresso aroma and flavor, the Latte was a touch sweet and very creamy, the Bourbon was dominated with oak and vanilla, the Mexican has a very nice smokey pepper and dark cocoa flavor, a little cinnamon.

[IMG] so this is an interesting one for me. Reminds me a lot of the black IPA'S I've had. Ingredients on the bottle listed are: "Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast". Brewed in Glasgow, Scotland. BB 2027.

Very floral hop quality. Some bitter citrus rind. Lots of coffee, espresso, and chocolate. Just the right amount of burnt oak barrel. Overall, excellent.

I did not think it came across dry at all. It was barreled with a mix of new and used barrels so the flavor was complimentary and not dominant. Nothing earth shattering here, just an easy sipping smooth beer!

2018 Pugachev's Royale from Hangar 24 in Redlands. Russian imperial stout brewed with maple syrup and aged in bourbon and brandy barrels with cacao nibs and vanilla beans. Bottle 469/2112. Comes in at 15% ABV.

Pours dark as night, with a slight rim of brown head. The nose is full of burnt vanilla, roasted malts, maple, chocolate, toffee, and black licorice. Absolutely fantastic.

The taste is super smooth. Nicely integrated notes of charred wood, roasted malts, leather, dark chocolate, molasses, maple syrup, vanilla beans, toffee, and tons of black licorice. This is my kind of stout. It has aged beautifully. Mouthfeel is thick and viscous.

Man, I can't thank you enough for sending me down this rabbit hole. We'll see how it improves my pupusa game, but I've already found at least one old lady in Pueblo that is a new source of spiritual strength for me. I've barely used YouTube in like a decade and it's nice to be reminded of how great a way to connect to the world it can be.

I used to work at a place where the property manager was a Guatemalan guy. We were talking one day about where he was from and he decided to pull up some YouTube videos to show me. The first video he found of his home town had a scene from a community meeting about a new well and his mom was in the middle of the frame. It was the first time he'd seen an image of his mom in over a decade. Miracle of technology right there.

After returning back from visiting Riverside Rhapsody for lunch and beer in the Asheville area, cracked a Dragon's Milk BA Reserve #3, a good dessert beer. This is not my everyday BA IS but was an enjoyable post meal brew in the small package.
    Cheers!

Completely shocked that a beer like this was on tap at this arcade bar. Nose was vanilla sweetness and taste was chocolate boozy vanilla. Not the best ever but darn fantastic!

This is really good. It’s a lot like KBS but with a thinner body. I like this much more than the Mapledoodle

Im here to share an imperial stout that is also part of my #cellaruary efforts.
This is Brasserie BFM from Switzerland and their Cuvee Alex Le Rouge. A 10.276% ABV imperial stout featuring black pepper, tea and vanilla in the brewing. Ive had it in my cellar for a few years so I wanted to share it and let the Impy Stout crowd know about the experience with this one.

    onto my review:

Im sampling a 2019 vintage of this beer. Ordered from OEC brewing which is a B UNited brew house here in CT. Had it delivered early in the COVID pandemic, and its been on a shelf in my cellar until tonight.
Im pouring into my trusty snifter.
The beer pours a cola brown color with no light passing through as it rests in my glass. The foam is beige and about 1 cm which sticks around as a sturdy surface covering.
Aroma on this beer is roasted malts, some tobacco, just a hint of oxidization and some dark fruits. Label mentions balck pepper and vanilla, that I dont find on the aroma. I Dont get any hint of the ABV and hops are absent here too. Overall the nose is fairly mild in my opinion, wonder if it was more bold when fresh.
First sip reveals a medium body with fine tingly carbonation.
Flavor starts with dark cacao, some roasted notes to the point of char and a little bit of a black tea note. The tea is also mentioned on the label. Still not vanilla nor any black pepper, the ABV is hidden and hops are absent.
The beer is fine, I suspect maybe a little better fresh (oxidation would be absent). Not the most robust flavor profile nor physical traits for a beer in this style. Wouldnt buy this one again I dont believe.
