Is this beer in distribution? I think the only Voodoo beer we get here is the Lacto Kooler stuff which I wouldn't touch with a 10' pole. Cheers.

#9 from the Extreme Beer Box, a long time favorite of mine. Haven't seen it locally in a couple years (pandemic)?

Is this the best beer in the box so far in your opinion? I've been following your reviews from the box closely and have noticed you haven't been a fan in general. Cheers.

interested to hear as well. personally, i thought Paraboloid was the best beer in the box and the 2nd best (whatever it was - really never decided) was a tier below. probably either BA 1050 or Rev Dark Mode but Paraboloid is (much) better than both of them.

I need to revisit paraboloid. I didn't really appreciate it my first go round but I feel like my palate for BA stouts has developed in the last year or so. Cheers.

As my mentor, @Resistance88, once told me during training. We will eat this food, because it will taste so good. We will talk with these women, they are so beautiful. But tomorrow is leg day. We will drink this impeccable imperial stout. "Lightweight, baby!"

[IMG] [IMG] two good ones today. Willetized is much sweeter with a fair barrel presence. DM is much more bitter coffee oriented. Cheers.

Their variants of this are solid, but I’m happy with the regular. Do these make it to Woodman’s?

Have they made Uber Joe over the past few years? That’s one of my favorite coffee beers worldwide.

I need to finally grab some 15-2s as well.

Troubles End Brewing (Collegeville, PA) - Bourbon Barrel Aged Absent Void. Pleasant bourbon flavors - vanilla, oak, a touch boozy, layered on top of nice chocolatey flavors. Well balanced.

Im back with another tasty imperial stout. This one from our Fearless leader @Resistance88 Thank you for sending this my way!! This is 8one8 Valhalla Bourbon barrel aged imperial stout. registers 12.9% ABV.
Glad to try something from a new to me brewery.

    onto my review:

Im sampling this 16 oz can at cellar temp. Date stamp of 2021. Pouring into my trusty snifter.
The beer pours a black coffee brown and no light passes through my glass as it rests in my snifter. A dense creamy beige head of 1 cm foams up and fades to a sturdy edge layer soon after my pour. Does leave some scattered lattice on the glass when I swirl or take a sip of the beer.
Aroma is dark malts and brown sugar with a bit of roasted malt and loads of bourbon. The bourbon nose is by far dominant, but isnt fusol or hot smelling, just bourbon brown liquor. No hop character anywhere on the aroma.
First sip reveals a medium body and very fine, slightly tingly carbonation. Texture is pretty smooth and the beer drinks easy, with only a little bit of sticky residue on my lips to remind me this is a high octane beer.
Flavor is sort of what I expect, a bit of brown sugar and dark fruit with hints of roast and then a heavy dose of bourbon. NOt really sweet bourbon but not fusol and hot here either. Not much wood character here either. I do get a little warmth on the finish as the beer warms in my glass.
If you like bourbon, like stouts without other additive flavors then this one is for you. I do enjoy the straightforward bourbon stout note.
A worth imperial stout and easy to see why @Resistance88 likes this one so much!
    4.44 in the BA DB

This is going to ruin all the chronologicals for today, because I drank a grocery list of incredible imperial stouts today, brewed by the man who brewed them, but @BigIronH made me want to get home to drink this beer, and I am glad I did!

so glad you can enjoy this under the radar brewery! truly fine folks over at 8ONE8 . In my first visit the head brewer actually came over and spoke with us for a bit. when he found out we ( friend and i)were first timers he asked us what our tastes were and served us himself while suggesting stuff while telling us about his operation. truly a gem of a brewery in an oversaturated IPA market.
They also make BA Belgian Tripels ,Winter Warmers, Brown Ales and every style of beer imaginable.
went back a few times and every time is a treat, but i wish it were closer to me cuz driving back is dangerous.
also nice to see that you and @Blogjackets,whom i also sent a can to, ratings are only .01 points apart.

heres to more good non-adjuncted stouts!
