This is in the 20% of actually good stuff that I’ve gotten from Tavour. Got two of them initially. They put it out again last week because I guess they somehow didn’t sell all of their stock. I bought another before even trying it because FW doesn’t make bad barrel aged beer. Did you ever get your hands on the BCBS barleywine?

I would, but I worry that all the atmospheric rivers in CA might just do the job for me.

Don't believe the hype. It's rain. We live in a Mediterranean climate. This is the time of year we get rain. Unless you're living in the high Sierra its just wet

Remedy Grond Imperial Stout, 12% ABV. I rated it 4.38. This is no pastry stout. It's a solid and robust Imperial Coffee Stout with some great roast malt. Now I'm really looking forward to the BBA version. I'll have to hunt that down tonight.

In that case, I have no choice! This is his birthday week, so maybe I’ll give him a pass. :sunglasses:

#12 from the Extreme Beer Box, and a damned fine one it is!

Dark brown pour, a bit of reddish highlights in the sun, two fingered head fades to a ring, some spotty lacing. Boozy opening upfront, my old motorcycle jacket, ash. Taste buds love the chocolate, vanilla, fruit, burnt sugar, cinnamon some raisin. Did I mention booze? This is a "hot" one, really quite boozy. I thought this was a bit thin for the style. Good beer!

IMO the thinness is perfect. It it were thicker it would be kinda gross as it would he harder to put down especially at such high ABV.

That is just me. The beer is perfect and i wouldn't change a thing . Glad you enjoyed it ! At least some good things came in that box for ya!

Enjoying a 500 ML pour (out of 750 ML bottle) Fonta Flora Decoy variant, Maple and Fenugreek. Thank you very much for the trade @BMBCLT !
Taste is a fairly mild malt base that has acclimated nicely to the 15-month barrel aging time. Maple imparts a level of sweetness that is balanced/melds nicely with the herbal/masala fenugreek and of course the nice warming bourbon barrel and hopping. Sounds like an adjunct train wreck but all the flavors came and worked together very well! Rated 4.34.
    Cheers!

I like this waaaaay better than the coffee bcbs. That one was pretty disappointing for me. This (2022) is one of my favorite coffee stouts in recent years.

The BCBCS had a lot of variance in the amount of coffee. It’s kind of wild that it’s possible for that to happen. I’ve had 3 bottles and 2/3 were possibly the best coffee stouts I’ve ever bad. The other one had almost no coffee and tasted almost exactly like the base. This was the case with many people. I’m probably repeating this for the 10th time and everyone is sick of it :grimacing:

Mine have all tasted pretty similar. I got a couple from northern CA, one from southern CA, and one in Denver. None tasted like the base, which is unfortunate because I like the base way better. The coffee seems to just make it more bitter, takes away from the barrel flavor, and somehow make it thinner. Not a good coffee flavor in there, IMO, very "gas station coffee" flavor. But I'm willing to believe there were better bottles out there.

Only had that pour of BG last night and finished the rest today after putting a stopper on it.

It was 10x better today! The barrel shined ,the dark chocolate was more pronounced and got way more dark malt alongside bitter roasted coffee.
Highly recommend to split over 2 days.

I poured this beer the second of three years volunteering at FOBAB (Festival of Barrel Aged Beers). Thought it would be a busy tap, but people were too busy standing in line for BA stouts with lucky charms, ice cream sundaes and all types of other shit in them. Their loss.
