Other than 'Ten Fidy' from Oskar Blues, does anyone know of any commercial examples of an imperial stout that is packaged into cans instead of bottles?

Bonus points if that beer is also available in a bottle...

On a side note, does anyone with experience aging Ten Fidy have an opinion on cellaring canned imperial stouts versus aging bottles of an imperial stout? Do you feel that there is a noticeable difference with how an imperial stout will hold up in a can versus a bottle?

    Thanks.

    Cheers.

    Mike

Brewery Vivant Plow Horse and Southern Star Buried Hatchet. I can only really recommend the prior, the latter is underwhelming.

I have not found an Imperial Stout that I could do a 1:1 comparison between bottles and cans however I will say that Ten Fidy ages as well as any Imperial Stout in a bottle. It would easily be in my top 5 aged beers for the style.

I would never age a Ten Fiddy. It's just too good.

I aged two cans of Ten Fidy, one for a year and one that is still going. The year old is fantastic and wouldn't look back. It's amazing fresh but aging it makes it even better. I would say aging a can ain't gonna hurt ya especially from my experience.

A few years ago I tried a 3 year vertical of Ten Fidy and there was no discernible difference between the three. I decided then that aging beer in cans is not worth the effort.

Not sure if 8.25% abv is considered "imperial" but if so then Buried Hatchet. Was sent to me as an extra. Great beer!

Why? You get four 12oz. Cans (48oz) for $14-$16.
It's pretty common for a 22oz. Bomber of RIS to cost $7. plus.

Although it is a Foreign Export Stout, Lion Stout might fit what you are looking for. 8.8% ABV stout comes in both bottles and cans and is readily available many places. Plus it is a bit more affordable at ~$11 a six-pack.

Totally agree. After having a year old Ten Fidy compared to fresh years ago..I try to age stouts (or at least one) for a year. Sure it's a taste preference, but in my case, worth it. My beer dude at a local store brought out over a year old Ten Fidy from the back when I asked since none where on the floor. I wanted cans for a Mexican cruise and he produced aged Ten Fidy. Moral of the story......ask the beer dude about gems in the back.

I do the same with almost all of my stouts. Just makes the cellar so much fun.

Renegade's Hammer and Sickle is a RIS in a can. It made my balls tingle.

Bourbon County Brand Stout (and all its variants) were canned and are simply lying around my liquor store (shelf turds). I personally think BCBS tastes better out of the can.
