I agree with this but this years batch seems to be a bit hop forward so I put the rest of my case away for mid summer maybe even fall or winter. This beer is magical after 6-12 months of aged. Pennsylvania is becoming a bit more beer savy I used to buy Founder RIS with a year aged to it already (hint that they never rotate stock and keep beers on shelf until they sell)

Every Stout fan should try Ballast Point: Victory At Sea Coffee Vanilla Imperial Porter. It's not called a stout but porter and stout are pretty close to the same thing. Victory At Sea is an amazing beer.

You might also try another Porter called Nefarious Ten Pin Imperial Porter.

    Some of my favorites are:
    Year-Round BBA
    -New Holland Dragon's Milk
    -Schlafly Imperial Stout

    Year-Round
    Green Flash Double Stout
    Ten Fidy
    Old Rasputin
    Boulevard Dark Truth

    Limited BBA
Founders KBS (Released on April 1st, so talk to your bottle shop soon  )
    BA Perennial Artisan Ales Abraxas
    Bell's Black Note
Bourbon County Brand (Propriator's Stout is definitely worth trading for)
BA Old Rasputin (Released a couple weeks ago so possibly still available for you)
Boulevard Imperial Stout (Released January and not very popular, so possibly still available)

    Limited
Founders Imperial Stout (Still available, use their website's BeerFinder)
    Perennial Abraxas
    Bell's Expedition Stout
Schlafly Irish-Style Extra Dry Stout (8%, so bordering "regular" stout territory, but a different take on stouts than the others I've listed. Available now)

Yes, KBS, BCBS, Dark Lord, Parabola are all great.

But there are plenty of great Imperial's that are more easily available and not too expensive, many of which have been mentioned.

    - Evil Twin Even More Jesus (on the expensive side)
    - Lagunitas Imperial and Cappuccino Stout
    - Founders Breakfast (must try) and Imperial
    - Victory Storm King
    - Yeti, both Imperial and Coffee Barrel Aged
    - Bell's Expedition
    - Stone Russian Imperial Stout and Espresso RIS

Agree that this year's is a bit hoppy. As it's sat in my cellar, already it is mellowing out. Bought a case in the fall and will be s-l-o-w-l-y drinking them:slight_smile:

    Don't do this.

I'm drinking one at the moment and it's not very good. Incredibly thin for the style.

Bah. I disagree. But to each his own.

OP asked for barrel aged and this has the bourbon shining through.

It does but not in a good way.

I will say it gets easier to drink about half way through.

It's as if someone just dumped a shot of whiskey into my snifter. How it's only 8% abv I'll never understand.

    dumbest comment ever on BA.

    1. BCBS
    2. KBS
    3. Eclipse Elijah Craig
    4. Parabola

btw; BC Barleywine is better than all the BA Imperial Stouts on PLANET EARTH.
