So I've got a good recipe I've been using for a red saison. On it's own it's a good beer, but I'm looking for suggestions on how to make it a bit more exciting. I'm considering either aging it on currants or perhaps adding raisins to it some how, most likely deglazing and purée, then add it to the boil. I'm pretty much looking for tips on my ideas or for suggestions as to what you would do to spice up this recipe, whether it be fruit, hops, Brett or other bugs, pretty much anything. I'm open to most ideas.

    Red Saison
    OG: 1.070
    FG: ~1.006
    IBU: 36
    Color: 17 srm
    Boil: 90 minutes
    Yeast: WLP566 Belgian Saison 2

    Belgian Pils 78%
    Carared 6.78%
    Rye Malt 6.78%
    Wheat Malt 6.78%
    Midnight Wheat .84%
    Carafa II .84%

    1oz Kent Goldings 60 minutes
    1oz Kent Goldings 30 minutes
    .75oz Simcoe 0 minutes

Do you want the beer to be red or are you ok with a hazy dark amber approaching brown? If appearance isn't important, the recipe looks good to me. I'd probably sub the carafa II for more midnight wheat, but you have so little in there it probably won't matter.

I've brewed this one a few times with the recipe above and I'm happy with the color and flavor as is, I've just grown a little bored with it and am looking to add something to it. That's really all I'm looking for. As mentioned above, I'm looking for tips if I decided to go the route of adding raisins or currants, or looking for different suggestions to make this recipe a little more exciting.

Any of the fruit you mentioned would make a good addition.
