I'm new to the Biloxi and i'm looking for a place for a good beer. some of the local brew would be nice but aren't necessary.
Lazy Magnolia is the only local brew (and the largest brewery in the state). It's located in the Kiln (north of Bay St. Louis). They give brewery tours but I'd wait until after July 1st when they can start giving samples. They are tripling the size of their brewery and adding a tasting room (not sure when it'll be open). The Keg & Barrel is a bar in Hattiesburg that is opening a brewery called Southern Prohibition. I don't know if they're bottling yet but you can drive up there to try their beers at the bar. There are several new breweries open but none of them are in production yet. If you check out www.lazymagnolia.com you should find plenty of bars across the coast that have most if not all of their beers. The Mellow Mushroom over in Ocean Springs has a pretty good selection. The Mockingbird Cafe in Bay St. Louis should have all of the Lazy Mag beers. It's been a while since I've been in Biloxi/Gulfport, so I don't know what's open and here the best beer drinking bar is. I'm sure some Coast people will chime in, but that should get you started
What Slate said. The Beau had the states first microbrewery before Katrina hit. They did not rebuild it. They recently had Lazy Mag attempt to recreate the beer using their equipment and methods and contract brew it for them. It's available at the Beau and the Goldstrike in Tunica. Eventually it may be available at other MGM casinos.
A new beer bar opened up on Government St in Ocean Springs (behind Mosaic). Can't vouch for it now, but I'm headed them this evening and will let you know.
Its def worth a visit. Right now its just the best of what we can get, but they are doing a big thing Sunday at 2 for the new beer law.
Cool. I'll keep that in mind next time I'm down there. We usually stay in Biloxi and head over to Ocean Springs to the Farmers Market during the summer. Where's Mosaic?
