Hi, I am in Montreal for the next few days and would love to try some more beer from Quebec (Live in Ottawa and I occasionally find some good beer in Gatineau but I do not get there as often as I would like). However, so far I have had difficulty finding beer brewed here. I went to the SAQ today and while I found a few excellent beer they were all from other countries or provinces. I did not expect that. I also went to a few depanneur but only found examples of a few fairly large breweries like Belle Gueulle and a bunch of terrible beer. I am staying in Old Montreal, near Saint Antoine and Saint Urban, so I would like to know if anyone knows of a good store in this area that has a decent selection of beer from Quebec. I like to walk, so if it is a little off the beaten track I do not care very much.
Welcome! The easiest Quebec beers to find in your immediate area at most depanneurs would be the St-Ambroise series from McAuslan. I think this place isn't too far from you and they have a bit better selection: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26937 If you're willing to take the Metro, these places are filled with Quebec goodies! http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/24167/view=beerfly http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/17316/view=beerfly http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/9989
There's a convenience store located on the corner of Frontenac and Rachel named Peluso that seems like nothing from the outside that has the biggest selection of Quebec micro-brewery beers (> 300) in stock. Check it out.
