Fiji sure sounds a lot better than Kazakstan, which is where my friend was posted. I would also take a tropical island over temperatures in the single digits and the foot of snow that we have here. No craft beer though? Call it even.

    check out my blog: https://luigiinfiji.wordpress.com/

If you look at what I am doing section you'll get a good understanding... essentially I am mainly educating the people on health and the prevention of NCDs.

I wish not having beer was the worst of my problems lol.

But really the Fijians are beautiful. How accepting and warm they all are is incredible. Life is much much different than I could have ever imagined. It gives you such an appreciation for what we have, especially on the level of accessibly. I pretty much have 1 boat that comes to my island once a week and it goes to the main city. I have electricity 2 hrs a day and that is if my village runs the generator. Mosquito net sleeping everyday and always filtering water. But by no means am I anything like a hero. Just trying to give back a bit in life.

Yeah, but I would worry about the recipient running afoul of the UCMJ if the package didn't arrive intact...

The fact there is a Peace Corps presence speaks volumes about the need. I'm sure some of these people thought you are holed up in a 4 star hotel or something. Still as a not very active scuba diver, I would love to check that out & I am sure you are gaining experiences, friends & memories to last a life time.

Designing drinking water systems and efficient sewage for small villages is hero status in my book.

Read the four project goals on your blog and have major respect for what you're undertaking in Fiji. You might want to rewrite project #1 though. The way it reads now – "1. Promote adoption of Healthy Behaviors and other NCDs" – makes it sound as if you want to promote NCDs. Pretty sure that's not what you meant. Just delete "other " and replace with "prevention of " – as you wrote in your post above:

All the best. You'll have earned a lifetime of good beer by the time you get home.

But really shipping is outrageous here easy 80 bucks for like 7 pounds minimum. So no need to do that... but if by chance a box were to arrive at my home in the states it would be aging for the next close to 2 years lol. I wouldnt mind that haha!

Best wishes; you're really making a difference out there. Two suggestions: get used to crappy beer (ugh; not my favorite); and live vicariously through WBAYDN?
