Inappropriate negative votes on reviews

    I am enjoying a bottle of Stickee Monkee while watching Sunday afternoon football and just noticed that virtually every review of that beer over the last three months has been voted down and, as I decided that none of them merited such treatment, I voted all of them back up so that there were not dropped to the bottom of the list. It is one thing to vote down a review that has no meaningful content but it is not OK to vote down other reviews just to keep your own on top (which is the only reason I can think of that one would do that).

    To answer your underlying question: We have no plans to start moderating up/down votes. It would be quite difficult and time consuming to do so too.

    We have faith that the system, which is still very new, will even things out once more BAs use it.

    We discussed this as a team this morning. @Mike has proposed an algorithm to help thwart down voting abuse. We'll be testing and reviewing this week. More to follow...

    Yeah, one would think the outliers would become statistically insignificant I imagine.
