I need some advice. It looks as if someone stole my trade package off of my porch today. UPS will launch an investigation but only through the request of the person that shipped it. Is this at all worth chasing?? First of all, who would even believe that I did not get the package. UPS is showing online that it arrived and was left on my front porch. It was sent to the right address on the shipping label. I fear that I will come off looking like a complete liar. Furthermore, what can anyone tell UPS about the package. He cannot tell them that he shipped beer, right?? I am not sure how to proceed here. I sent away some really good beers and paid to ship them and have come up empty. This cannot be the first time this has happened so I am looking to see what my options are, if any. Thanks for any help you may have to offer.
Something similar happened to me with FedEx. Matter of fact it was my first trade. ha! Anyway. It said "delivered" online and nothing arrived. I called the fedex, they called the driver and driver stated she left it at the door(even mentioned there was kids playing in the street when she dropped it off) Anyway, next day box arrived no problem. Give it a day or two. Hopefully you have the same situation here. GL
I've had a driver switch 2 numbers and deliver a few doors down. Called and they sent the driver back out to find it and they dropped it off at my door. Just gave an approximate size and weight and who the sender was. I wasn't asked to describe the contents. If they ask, say it's a birthday present from a friend or family member and you don't know what is in the box. I've also been home, saw the package was delivered, but nothing at my door. Before calling, I took a stroll down the street and saw my box on someone else's doorstep. Grabbed it and walked home. I swear that UPS driver was dyslexic or something. Or it could be something nefarious. Good luck, man.
This has come before, a lot more likely it was delivered to the wrong address and not stolen. Call UPS, tell them a package that you were supposed to get is missing. If they ask what is in it, tell them a buddy surprised you with a package and you have no idea what is in it. Shouldn't even matter, they sent package to wrong place.
Ive heard stories about UPS and FedEx drivers having a very tight schedule and if they aren't able to deliver a package, they sometimes mark it as delivered so they don't get in trouble. Then they just make sure to deliver it the next day. Hopefully it's there this afternoon.
I have often received an email stating my package has been delivered only to have the truck swing by any where from a couple minutes to an hour later to actually drop it off.
UPS is telling me that there is a chance they delivered it to the wrong house. Problem is that the driver was a floater and not a regular to the route. So he is not even in the area to come out and see which house he may have left it at. Now UPS says that the sender will have to request an investigation to get reimbursed. What a mess.
Bummer. Pretty shitty of your neighbors to not return the box to you, assuming that the driver delivered it a place close by.
So, this afternoon UPS dropped the package on my door and drove off. My wife saw the truck leaving. Why would they insist that they delivered yesterday when they did not. This was so strange. I am going fedex from now on. F UPS!!!
Probably exactly what multiple people mentioned already. Driver had a packed day and didn't want to end the day with a bunch of "undelivered" packages so just marked 1 or 2 as delivered and then dropped them off the next day. When you called to complain, UPS didn't have a clue where the package was so they just tell you it was delivered and that the shipper has to open up a complaint, instead of saying "oh, our drivers do this all the time, just wait a day or two"
^^ This. It's an unfortunate reality for many drivers that are unable to finish their route in a given shift but take heat from management if they bring back undelivered packages at the end of the day. I'm glad it ended up working out, I know that must have been a long, stressful 24 hours. Hopefully that temp driver is elsewhere the next time you're expecting a box!
I don't know. Most of the UPS stories end up like this where the package ends up getting delivered. When FedEx loses a package they do a really good job of losing it and you won't get it at all. I still prefer UPS for most packages.
I've had no issues with FedEx. I had a bottle break in my package the other month and FedEx repackaged my beer in to a new box and sent it all back to me without even saying anything.
There is no right answer here. Just stating my opinion. I have shipped probably 250 beer boxes in the last year + and I use both FedEx and UPS. I have only had issues with FedEx. Incoming boxes I have had issues with both but definitely more with FedEx. My rule is if the shipping time is the same I use UPS. Sometimes FedEx is faster so then I use them. Or Saturday delivery obviously.
