According to their site it should be out in May.

Does anyone know what their current Derailed beer is?

I havent noticed any recently. I recall they released it last year at Art-a-Whirl, not sure if they have made batches since then.

Had it last year and just did not get it. Too much lavender. Thought it was pretty awful.

I thought the lavender was too strong when the beer was cold, but if you let it warm up the dates and honey come through and it's more balanced.

I have a bottle of this and haven't popped it, hopping time would mellow the Lavender flavors. Does anyone know if those flavors die out with time or should I just go ahead and drink this bottle of potpourri now, as time won't change it?

I just cracked a bottle last week and couldn't finish it due to the lavender. Felt like I was drinking lotion.

@BottleCaps80 I aged a bottle from the last release and IMO the Lavender did die down quite a bit. A lot more of the Honey and Date flavored came through and it wasn't as floral as it was fresh. I liked it much more with a year of age on it. So I say lay that sucker down and let it mellow a bit.

Same. Respect the heck out of Indeed brews so I chalk this one up to the "its not for me" side of things.

Thanks for the feedback and that's good to know! I have heard the 2014 version had much more lavender in it than the 2013 even, so maybe I'll let it rest quite a bit longer before cracking it.

If you don't want your beer to taste like flowers, why on earth did you buy it in the first place?
I passed from the get go.

Just think it strange that people are complaining that it tastes too much like Indeed brewed it to taste like.

Sometimes people make spur of the moment purchases without reading every review or knowing what the beer tastes like. To me, that's part of the fun of discovering new beers. That was the case for me when buying this beer. I happened to be passing through the Twin Cities a few weeks ago, stopped at a store and saw this sitting there. Had heard it mentioned before, but had never tried it and didn't know anything about it other than the name, what it said it was brewed with on the bottle and that it was from Indeed. I like Indeed, so I picked it up. I don't mind a bit of lavender as a nuance flavor in a beer. But then I got home and have been reading reviews and forum posts that indicate it's straight up flowers, lotion, soap, potpourri, etc. I didn't realize that was Indeed's intentions with this beer. Maybe I'll try and trade it for some locals I can't get in IA I guess. Sorry I bummed you out by making a purchase without knowing what the beer was supposed to taste like.

It's ok @BottleCaps80. Some people seem to think that the point of the forum is be rude to others instead of discussing beer. How dare you not look into every possible aspect of a beer before purchasing and then come here of all places to discuss it?? I personally like LSD quite a bit, but have not yet had this year's. It does hold up well over time.

My bad. It just sounded like you were complaining that people were complaining about the taste. To me, it seems strange to post a comment like that, when not everyone knows what every beer is intended to taste like before purchasing it. When I did end up doing a bit of research (after already making the purchase), I found out it is a flower bomb. Not something that intrigues me. So, I figured I'd post in here asking others who had tried it if the lavender flavors mellow out with age. Sorry you found that strange.

Good to know. Thanks for the feedback.

I had actually never had a beer like this and wanted to try. I love trying new beers, even if half of them are not for me. There is also a difference between not liking a style and ripping the beer/brewery. I am trying to avoid any "this brewery/beer sux" comments when it's just my very subjective tastes.
