I probably should just leave my big mouth shut, but that really wasn't all that rude to me. I think it is a legitimate question myself. I feel the exact same about people that buy coffee stouts and age the coffee out. However, BottleCaps response shows it was not his intention (plan to age the flavors out of this flavored beer).

edit: Of course if you bought it, it's your beer and I don't care what you do with it. Hell, drainpour that DQ if you want!

Why someone would buy a beer without knowing what it tastes like? I dunno, as I previously pointed out, to me, that is part of the fun of discovering new beers.

I knew the reputation of Indeed, had loved every beer I had ever tried of theirs and picked this up on a whim, knowing only that it was an ale brewed with "Lavender, Sunflower Honey and Dates", as indicated on the bottle. Sounded like a pretty interesting combo to me. If my memory is correct, I even think the description on the side of the bottle only mentioned "delicate floral notes", so with only having that information to go off of, I figured the lavender would be just that, nuanced and delicate. I don't mind floral notes (actually really enjoy them subtly), but don't like beers where that is the main flavor profile.

I don't know if I find it "rude", but I do find it very odd that people would expect others to know exactly what a beer is supposed to taste like (or do in depth research into it) before buying it. If I don't know, I take the notes/ingredients on the packaging to be a good indication of what the beer is supposed to taste like. Since the bottle said the floral aspect was intended to be "delicate", I figured that's what it would be. After reading more about it, it doesn't sound at all like the floral aspect is delicate and instead dominates the beer.

Not what I meant at all. I meant intentionally buying something you know you want to age a flavor out of, and not the situation you describe. I agree with what you say about discovering new beers, and I even like to try beers I expect to dislike just to push/expand my palate. Hope you enjoy LSD whenever it is that you open it.

I can also see how a beer with flowers could vary wildly from batch to batch, and the flower character could be much more than one is expecting, something I hadn't considered before but based on the few flowery beers I have had seems logical. At that point what else could you do but try to age that aspect down.

Also, not to flog this horse into the ground, but I did just find the label online. My memory was mostly correct, but it actually says "delicate floral aromas", not flavors, and mentions that it has "rich notes of fruit and honey." It is also called a Honey Ale, so I figured that would be more honey/dark fruit than anything. @lonewolfcry said Indeed intended it to taste like lavender, but the bottle description really doesn't indicate that at all. If that is indeed (see what I did there), what they want people to taste the most in this beer, they should probably update the description. Maybe even call it a "Lavender Ale" instead of a honey ale.

Yeah, I would not be expecting a lavender bomb from that label

I saw Lavender, Sunflower Honey, Dates and immediately knew it was probably not for me.
Any flower is too much flower, in my book.
I just know that Lavender is a very strong scent/taste that would be petty hard to mask and I wouldn't want in my beer.
Looks like my gut instinct was right.

Didn't mean to get everyone all riled up.
Gotta keep that morale up, ya know...

    Cheerz!

Man I think LSD is the only offering from Indeed besides Midnight Ryder that I will forever pass on. LSD was just too floral and not enough Honey and Dates. Midnight Ryder just don't like the style . It has nothing to do with Indeed's take on it.

Seems like in the only one who liked the beer - I thought it was interesting.

@notCreative, I like it quite a lot, too. It's weird but I love the flavor of lavender in things. I did like it a little better with a year on it and the lavender became more subtle.

I do like Shenanigans, not as much as Day Tripper though. Also Shenanigans is great for beer can chicken.

I do not know about other people, but I also do not know what a new beer to me tastes like unless I drink the fucking thing. I did not find LSD overwhelming in lavender. I just thought it was really dry, and if anything, not floral enough. You did your due diligence and asked a legitimate question. And you did not start a new thread to ask the question so bonus points for that.

Like a lot of people here have already said, this was way too much lavender for my taste. It was like soap and very difficult to finish even a small glass. A bit of age would probably help it a lot.

Regarding the OP's question, I spotted it at a Coborn's near St. Cloud, so chances are it's not too hard to find.

Great marketing! For some of us old Deadheads, it's the first time we've had LSD in a long time. Plus it doesn't take you a full day to recover.
