Deschutes Inversion while I survey my options and fire up the grill. Will probably bring Tart of Darkness and some Anti-hero to the fireworks tonight. Or maybe Huna ... Decisions, decisions.

Chocolate Sombrero not exactly my style. The cinnamon is too much for me. Others were great. 1809 seemed dryer and less fruity than I remember. Does the Dr. Fritz 1809 get fruitier or sweeter with age? Is there a date code or way to tell age? I'm not seeing anything on the bottle.

Finally finished that 12-pack of Long Trail Belgian White. It's not great by any stretch--the coriander is ridiculously overwhelming compared to any other wit. But I found perfect use for it. Replace wine with LTBW when cooking mussels, add cilantro (coriander greens) to the broth along with fennel fronds and serve the remaining bottles alongside the cooked product. A perfect combination for something that is nearly undrinkable alone. That's been my Fourth. I wish I smoked a couple of slabs, but my smoker is in storage and I had to find some use for that LT. Once that was gone, flushed it off with a couple of Hoegaardens. Yeah, I know, not very patriotic... now ask me if I give a damn.

First firkin at Stone's World Bistro and Gardens at Liberty Station. Tapped by Kyle Suckiel under the watchful eye of Stone's bar manager, Matthew Moran. Kris Ketcham's fine ale brewed for Hemp History Week here in SD and casked for a special 4th of July release ("Hoppy Brownie Hemp Ale", dry-hopped with Green Bullet hops and melted dark chocolate) - yes please!

To celebrate, I had in order :

    Saranac Session Ale
Stone Espresso Russian Imperial Stout (22 oz.)
    Sam Adams Noble Pils
    Victory Headwater's Pale Ale
    Founder's Pale Ale

Not a lot, but then again, I loathe being hungover. They're so much worse as I've gotten older.
