Best beer they've ever made IMO.

I agree Railsplitter is pretty good, but I'll take Flat 12's Half Cycle or Oaken Barrel's Superfly any day....

I agree w/ Sun King disappointing besides their standard offerings, never had a great seasonal from them.

I really like the Broad Ripple Brewery fairly north of downtown: solid english style offerings (including cask ales!) and excellent food. Brugge Brasserie I've heard was definitely worth a visit, never been.

The "Ale of Destiny" was the official beer of this gigantic convention (Gen Con) that occurred last weekend but was sadly a hot mess: smoky/hoppy/belgian yeasty. The Ram's Omnipotent Ale was where it was at, though it think it was a black pale ale rather than a DIPA. They also tapped a bourbon barrel aged brown and a java stout that were pretty great too.

Hard to argue with a guy with a Flat 12 Avatar but Half cycle is just too much Summit. Railsplitter is much more balanced and crisp to me but both are good.

I think Superfly IPA from Oaken Barrel the best for my tastes. It is a west coast IPA hidden in a suburban brewpub.

I didn't get a chance to try the Sun King special, but I did love the Ram's. I wish I could have gotten back for the BBA and java stout, but the lines were just too long all weekend, and I had other events at the giant convention I wanted to do.

How can one score some Velvet Fog? I know they some, maybe not for a commercial release, but some went in, I had some. Damn if that wasn't the best beer I've ever had, no shit.

They just announced a label (or a...can...or...whatever) for it, so it should be getting canned in the relatively near future. Judging by the label, this one's gonna be expensive.

It's been said many time so far:

Sun King (Osiris and Angie Juice both on tap now)
    Flat 12

Go visit both. Growler fills at Sun King are dirt cheap.
Flat12 always has terrific beers on tap but only bottle a few at this point.

They are all expensive. 14.99 for Oktoberfest is B.S. right now.

I mean, I'm not really much a fan of Sun King to begin with, but after getting burned on trying Oktoberfest last year at even more than that, I think, I don't tend to mess with any of their canned seasonals.

Thats right. It was like 18.99 last year. Those single cans of sour beer are going to be insane when they hit.

I'm heading to Indy in early February. I've purchased a ticket for the indy Brew Bus on a Friday. We are staying downtown so I plan on hitting Rock Bottom and Ram in addition to Scottys Brewhouse, Tomlinson, and MacNivens.

Also on the itinerary are Brugge, Upland Tasting Room, 20 Tap, and Kahn's. This is all in addition to whereever the Brew Bus takes us....

    Anthing I've missed?

What weekend in February? Chances are good you will find me at Chatam Tap at 8 am on Saturday or Sunday drinking good beer and watching EPL, and I will absolutely be there if Manchester United is playing. I find that is the best way to start my weekend days out.
