Heading to Indianapolis for the weekend. Any recommendations of liquor stores I should hit on a Saturday? Beer bars? I know there is a HopCat in Broad Ripple, but any other suggestions of where I should go to find great selections of quality beer would be great. Thanks!
Upland is now doing samples of their sours at their locations, so you might want to hit the Tasting Room in Broad Ripple. I always recommend Brugge, also in Broad Ripple, for delicious food and great Belgian-style brews. Their Tripel rocks. Downtown, I'd go to Sun King for a growler or some cans, and a meal at Bru, a high end burger spot on Mass Ave. that offers an excellent, well designed beer list. There are many other options, but these are my go-to spots.
A few suggestions. Liquor Store: Kahn's is always great (on Keystone) If you cannot make it there then the larger 21st Amendment, Crown, Big Red and Payless stores are your best bet based on where you are in town. Bars. Depends on the part of town. If you already are heading toward Broad Ripple for HopCat then you also have Twenty Tap, Sinking Ship and a few others to choose from. On Mass Ave there is MacNiven's, Ralston's Drafthouse, BRU, Black Market and many others. Tomlinson Tap Room at City Market has 19 lines of Indiana Craft Beer. In Fountain Square there are more food oriented options with good craft selection like La Margarita, Siam Square, Rook, Blubeard, End of the Line and there is also Chilly Water Brewing and Ft. Square Brewing.
I checked out Bru's webpage and it looks like great beer and food offerings - thanks! I will be on the North side (Carmel area) in the afternoon, downtown and sleeping over Saturday night.
Since you mentioned being in Carmel, check out Vine and Table on Carmel Drive and Crown off of 126th and 31 for package stores. The Pint room on Main street is pretty awesome as well - good food and usually very good offerings on tap.
If you're downtown, hit up Black Acre in Irvington (east side of downtown) they're really knocking it out of the park lately
If you're heading to Carmel, Union Brewing Co is worth a stop too. And Bier, though it's a little se of Carmel.
Anyone have any updates to this thread? My wife and I are driving from Cincy to Indy tomorrow morning for the weekend. We're staying one mile outside of the city center and are looking for suggestions on both beer and general Indianapolis city things to do on foot. Any new suggestions since this thread was last touched last year would be appreciated, thanks.
