You will be on the south side of town. Greenwood has two breweries. Oaken Barrel was one of the first in Indiana actually. They make an awesome IPA called Superfly. It doesn't get great reviews on here, but they changed brewermasters a while back (and he just left actually) but they reformulated their recipes. I really enjoy it there, and they have good food.

The newest one is a place called Planetary. They are a pretty small operation only open Thursday - Sunday. Maybe even Friday - Sunday for samples and growler fills. I've hit them up a few times. A solid little brewery that is making overall decent beer.

It terms of beer bars there is really only one I think in Greenwood. It is called Shallo's Antique Restaurant. It actually has an Indianapolis address, but it just over country line road. My only caveat with them is ask for prices. I don't understand who is doing the pricing there, but some beers are priced right and other beers are not. Two-Hearted for instance is 6.25 or 6.75 a pour, but Headhunter is $5. Those are for 14oz falsies too. It used to rub me the wrong way, but they have about 50 or more taps and a huge number in bottles. They also have my favorite bartender there named Doug.

It terms of bottles shops you have a few choices. Party Pak is awesome over on Stop 11. They have that place packed to the gills with beer, but check for dates on anything hoppy. If it is hoppy and I can't find a date I don't buy from there. I wonder about their turn.

Crown on Shelby has a good selection.

My favorite is Payless liquors on 135 just south of County line. A BA runs the place. Ask for Josh if he is in. Also good people.

    Hope you enjoy the city.

    Will you have a car?

If so, it would be worth driving east of downtown and checking out Flat 12 and Sun King and then Broad Ripple for TwentyTap, Aristocrat, and Brugge.

    I agree with this completely.

What's your schedule? I live on the south side, and would be down for a drink if I can.

I'd be happy to share some beers with you. I live in Greenwood and wouldn't mind hosting a BA. Also, my office is beer friendly, after-hour friendly, and just off highway 65 and main street greenwood exit, which would be close to any hotel you're staying at (plus we have ping-pong and big screen TVs). If you wanna set something up, beermail me. I could potentially round up a few others to join/share.

As far as what to do around town, the greenwood joints are good but I'd also suggest heading into Indianapolis proper. Flat 12, Black Acre, Sun King, Bier Brewery, and Brugge would be my brewery suggestions. Twenty Tap and Shallos (previously mentioned) would be my pub recommendations. I will confirm that Party Pak has an extremely diverse selection and also that you should be weary of shelf life. Payless on 135 is my go-to for a bottle shop in Greenwood. Prices are a tad (maybe a buck here or there) high IMO but you can trust the beer is well cared for and Josh, the manager, is knowledgable, friendly, and helpful.

Being in town on sunday won't do you much good if you want to buy some bottles sadly (I hate that law, btw). If there are some things you are interested in, let me know and I may be able to grab them and set them aside for you.

Sabbath is in town that night, making sure I see Tony before anything Dio-esque happens to the greatest riff writer in heavy metal history. Otherwise, nothing going on early next week...Sunday evening plans are set though.

Looks like it's going to be a meet-up at my office on Wednesday (tomorrow) after work. BM me if interested and I'll share the exact details privately. We're basically located right off highway 65, and Main St. Greenwood. We'll play it by ear but the initial plan is to meet up here, bottle share, and then head either to:

    1. The fountain square area (about 12 minute drive after rush hours) and hit up the brewery/eat somewhere and possibly float up to Flat 12 before heading back.

    2. Hang on the South Side and go to Shallos for dinner/beers.

    3. Just stick around here and share beers until folks want to leave (we've all got to work on Thursday right?)

    BM if interested.

I'll be stopping through this coming weekend as well. I will be doing the Warrior Dash in Crawfordsville. I was hoping to find some Upland Sours or Zombie Dust of actually anything we can't get in Ohio. Any recommendations or anyone interested in an in person trade.

I don't have any sours to trade, but you won't find any unless someone trades you. Probably not finding any Zombie Dust either. I would recommend a stop by Flat 12 for pints and growlers. Josh is tapping two fresh wet hop beers this week. Sun King is close as well.

Saw on Facebook that The Sinking Ship should have ZD on tap today or tomorrow.

Hate the theme of the Sinking Ship but they do have have quality taps most of the time.
