Anyone heading to the race this weekend? I'll be there w a couple non craft buddies so probably couple coolers full of Bud Light. Not gonna complain, one weekend won't kill me and Sunday is a long day of drinking. Anybody else heading there, plans? Beers your bringing? Cheers
not going....but Daredevil, which is right by the speedway, has Race Day lager available in cans and crowlers I think....probably worth a stop on your way in....and they open super early on race day for your beer needs.
Will try to get over there, probably depends on where we park, which is usually close to turn four. Thanks for the info
I'll be there coming down with my wife and in-laws, 6th year running! Usually I'm the one to start this thread! Last year we organized a small meetup (really small - like 3 guys and our wifes) on the Indy 500 thread a few hours before the race. We each brought a few things to share - from what I can remember we had Julius, SoS, Creature Comfort Tropicalia, Todd, maybe a few others. We just opened a can and shared it, hung out for a little bit then went our separate ways, I think we ended up swapping a few cans as well. Legends Day and Race Day...Daredevil will get really crowded, but they do make good beer and it's worth a stop. Maybe check it out on Carb Day while some folks are still at work. I also plan on heading to Deviate to pick up some crowlers, and Black Acre for some cans in the days leading up to the race. The beer in Indy has gotten so good in the last few years, I don't even bring beer with me anymore, and get locals when I get down there. Cheers!
Husband and I will be meandering around infield/Snakepit with a mix of IPA and sour sessions (Fruity Nuggets, Dogfish Head Seaquench, Triton blueberry Barn Phantom...). Last year we walked to Big Woods/Daredevil after, hung out and by the time we left there was no Uber surge, traffic or anything. Daredevil had interesting guest cider and mead options at the time, if I recall.
We will have a similar setup at Daredevil for the Indy500 weekend again this year. Besides our beers we will have guest taps of New Day Craft Cider & Mead. New this year after the race on Sunday we have 3 food trucks from 4-8 pm in our parking lot in addition to the outside beer garden. Taproom again opens at 8 am on Race Day.
