So due to an unexpected job change, wife and I relocated back to the Indy area a couple months ago after stints in DC and norCal. A lot of our old Indy friends have moved away, especially those who enjoy craft...was wondering if there's a pre-existing group that gets together in the area or if there would be any interest in putting a tasting together?

I've got a lot of good beer waiting to be drank. Plenty of old and new FFF's, Upland sours, , etc. I regularly hit Chicago to visit family and bring back Pipeworks, Revolution, Perennial, Ballast Point, etc., and am a Bruery RS member so plenty of that to share as well. Figured everyone contributes ~2 bombers/3-4 12oz bottles, would make for a pretty good time. What say you!?

I do not know of one, but I'd not be adverse. I make it to Chicago, too, as well as Ohio, and every once in a while get further afield. My cellar rarely includes the super obscure, but I do manage good stuff from time to time.

There isn't one that I know of that exists, but I'm all for starting something fun and new!

I'd be interested. I also don't have tons of super rare stuff sitting around, but whatever I have I'd be willing to share. I have very few close friends who are beer geeks, so it would be nice to hang out with some like-minded individuals.

On Facebook there is a very active group whose members get together quite often for tastings: Indianapolis Beer Trade & Discussion It's a private group... shoot me a message with your Facebook name and I can add you. - Sean

The group is set to secret right now. That is why you are unable to find it on facebook. Feel free to message any of us to get added to the group.

quick pro-tip on the indianapolis beer trade and discussion group - don't post any jokes about liquor stores getting a certain release without making it very apparent that you're joking. @aasher told me some ass hat did that and it made a lot of people upset.

I mean, unless it's like some very limited release where most stores have behind the counter or something, post whatever you want. Someone did get a little angry about it, but that was awhile ago.

Anyway, if anyone needs another person to add them to the group, just message me. I plan on starting back up the brewery meetups on 2/7, which there sometimes have been a bottle share happen afterwards (depending on location).

@mayorQuimby, I'll talk to a couple of people about organizing a bottle share within the next week or two.

In terms of the I.B.T.D. group, it's only on Facebook. I mean, if you really don't want to get on Facebook, I suppose you could just shoot me a message and I'll update you with any shares, meetups, etc. whenever they pop up.

That would be appreciated. I love to participate in shares and have a lot of good beer to offer, but I don't use facebook, never have, and never plan to. I started this thread a really long time ago and obviously, got very little interest besides references to the facebook group.

A guy where I lived previously would just post a date and time here on BA for a share w/a google doc to show you were coming/what you planned to bring, and held the event at his apt bldg common room. It worked so well that he began to do the same thing regularly. I thought about doing something similar, but I don't live in a place conducive to a lot of people coming (there is no parking for more than a couple cars unless you park over 1/2 mile away) nor do I necessarily have the appropriate size space for a ton of people to hang out.

I do not use Facebook either but have a lot of good/rare beers to crack and would love to share. Please add me to the "list" for invites @DrippingI I'm also willing to host up to 10 people at my place on the southside.

I was thinking of doing a brewery meetup on Sunday, February 14th at Taxman (I assume the 7th is a little bit of a short notice by now). I figure we could do a bottle share afterwards either at the brewery (if they'll allow it) or somewhere else.

Does that sound good to all of you?
