Unfortunately was out of town. Just saw this...did it end up happening on the southside? Hope it was a success that will lead to future meet-ups. I am generally always down.

Got there at 2pm and in the end, only two people in total (both from the IBTD group) showed up. I figured there wouldn't be too many people considering it was way down in Bargersville.

Anyhow, the next brewery meetup will be on Sunday, March 6 (not sure what time, probably 2 or 3pm). I was thinking of meeting up at Chilly Water since I've heard they've got some good beers. Though, if anyone has a better place, let me know. So far, we've met up at Indiana City, Wooden Bear, Deviate, and now Taxman.

Too bad. I thought the goal was to start getting some shares going as opposed to brewery meet-ups, but I'd still be inclined depending on the place. I've been to Chilly Water once as I work nearby; I wasn't impressed. Drinkable for the sake of having a beer, but nothing worth seeking out, specifically. Other people I've met since have contested they are better than what I thought though, so who knows.

Well, I mean, there usually is a bottle share after doing the brewery meetup. All depends on where to have it. The reason I chose Chilly Water is because a handful of people have gone there within the last week or two and said they have some solid beers (one of their IPAs and another called Sticky Fingers, whatever style that is). I just didn't want to keep going to the same breweries over and over or go to some that clearly don't need more business (ie. Sun King).

I'll try seeing if someone is willing to host this Saturday if you and everyone else is up for doing one. If not, we could always go to La Margarita (depending on how many people meet up there). Though, I would assume they wouldnt one a large share happening every single week, you know?

Got ya. Based on all the posts above I never got the impression from anyone that breweries were allowing shares. I'm personally out for this week. Generally I need a few weeks notice as wife and I like to make a lot of plans for weekends ahead of time, thus I'm booked up the next couple...

Once it gets warm I will throw a post up in the forum to get something organized for a tasting/tailgate type thing with a small group at my place too so that finding a venue isn't as difficult.

Figure I will reach out to him today if I don't hear from him. I would guess would be a Sunday as they close early.

Just spoke with Mike. He said he has a call into his regional alcohol and tobacco office. To check on the legalities on a tasting/shares during and after hours. He will let me know as soon as he hears back.

I would be shocked if they allowed it during business hours. I remember Mike getting on me for having unopened cans of beer in the brewery one time. He made sure to tell me that it's not OK and how much trouble they could get into. Of course, being Mike, he was super nice about it....but the message was crystal clear. Maybe they feel more comfortable with it now...and hopefully that's the case.

I remember I attended a tasting in either 2010 or 2011 at Upland in Indy and we used the back area....they had their staff members open the bottles for us.

Ok, Mike heard back from the regional office. He said that we can't bring in purchased beer only beer we can open in store during or after business hours are home brewed beer. Super upset about this, but Mike said that we are welcome to come by anytime we wish!

    Hey guys!

Just wanted to chime in here - I'm an Indy transplant - I just moved in from DC last week. I'd definitely be down for partaking in some of these tastings as they occur :-)

Welcome, hope you're not feeling too culture shocked. DC is my favorite place I've lived but Indy isn't a bad spot to be. Distro here isn't as good as DC proper but it's on par w/NoVA, and if you go out for a beer the tap prices won't sting nearly as bad. There are a bunch of good threads if you search with info on Indy. Further, highly recommend a visit to Deviate as they are turning out EXCELLENT beer. Stay tuned in this thread, soon enough we will get a share going. As I mentioned a few posts up, I will put something together at my place in a month or so once the weather is looking good. I'll start that discussion in here.
