    Right now I've recovered
some of the kegs were far too cold and killed the subtle saison flavours
and with being in a an unheated victorian swimming baths it wasn't going to warm in the glass any time soon

I was a bit pissed that £8 got you in and a glass (which is very nice)& not even a complimentary half
they said they had they were keeping the cost of the beer down and there were very few £1.50 halves
In fact I was shocked when my first beer was a short measured half for £2 when there was some mention of 2/3
granted I was paying pretty much the going rate at £3 a half it's not massively overpriced for the beer
except for the fact that you have also paid an entry fee
and the beers are coming straight from from the brewers.

Totally irrelevant to anyone but me, when I was leaving the toilets I heard someone say to his friend
'That was too smoky for me' & I interjected 'Too smoky? That sounds just my thing! What was it?'
to be totally blanked even though only just had first beer & was sober
& then ignored when. In hindsight it was probably also lucky they ignored me calling them ignorant.

I am seriously thinking of giving up my interest in ale as none of my friends appreciate hoppy & big flavoured brews
& the new craft scene seems to attract a lot of people unwilling to engage with people they don't know,
unless they are brewers or minor beer web celebs.

The electrics were also playing up, cutting out every five minutes.

Me losing my debit card was no fault of IMBC just made a lacklustre night, a bad night.

On the plus sides the Celt Experience Brigid Fire was a great use of flavours
the Against the Grain Citra Ass Down the best beer pun I've seen in ages
being able to sample Estonian craft was enlightening
& I had no trouble tasting the huge flavours of Weird Beards Triple IPA Defacer.

Interesting. Appreciate the feedback, Bevis. Hopefully they iron out some of the ****les before Sunday... Not that that improves your night, at all!

Ah shame you didn't enjoy it bevis. I had a good night last night after initially being confused as to the layout of the venue, tokens should be available at the entrance and it wasn't clear where they were So we were wandering for a bit so missed the beermoth cellared beers event but not too bothered by that.
Anyway hdtrice I would say don't get too carried away with looking at the beer list in advance. The two beers I was most looking forward to getting first were no longer on (magic rock high wire grapefruit and thornbridge American wheat). Squawk were completely sold out early on. Plenty of barrel aged beers going on, I had beavertown moose fang and magic rock bearded lady dessert and the wife had Jim beam beers from both weird beard and alphabet. Buxton only had the anglomania barley wine left. The stone ruination made a surprise appearance at the brewdog bar but didn't get it. Food wise lots was available, I had a chilli hot dog. Of the collab brews I had the bilberry saison by Cromarty. It was alright. Got some of the others in cans to bring home. Also they are doing a promo with über to get £15 free credit to sign up, so we got there and back for free. I enjoyed also the alphabet flat white stout, wild beer cool as a gherkin and sleeping lemons, Firestone walker easy jack, brewdog lizard bride, Galway maybe next monday.

What a day. What. A. Day.

Had a superb time. Didn't have a bad beer all day. Great atmosphere and setup. Personal highlights were Buxton's Yellow Belly and Wired Brewings's iStout.

Dreading tomorrow's full day of work; but can't wait for next years IMBC. Definitely a repeated offender.

p.s. @EmperorBevis, I agree with you about the beer temperature. A lot were far too cold - they seemed to be feeding it through cooled lines? Which is obviously a concious decision, so maybe they had good reason for doing so? But an ice cold imperial stout or saison doesn't have chance to fully come alive.

In the end I worked the Thursday session and the first Friday session, thoroughly enjoyed myself but can appreciate that some of the beers were prohibitively expensive (I was serving one at £6 a third!). As the bar I worked on was well staffed I had plenty of time to wander round and try beers in the company of friends. Spent Friday evening drinking with John Keeling and Thursday with Alex Brodie, seeking out new and interesting stuff. I thought the Põhjala beers were superb http://pohjalabeer.com/en/beers.html . Wild Beer, Hawkshead, Kernell, New Zealand Beer Collective, Cloudwater... truly spoilt for choice.
Already planning to do the full Festival next year.
And yes, most beers were too heavily chilled.

I had a blast on the Fri and Sat eve sessions, only commenting now as I was struck down by the lurgy and have spent most of this week in bed :grimacing:

Loads of awesome beers had, standout being Mikellers Blueberry Sour, worth the asking price. Had plenty of good beers although some I had been looking forward to ended up being a bit meh. But that's how it goes. Spending the Sat afternoon in the Marble Arch was icing on the cake
