Again, sort of tentative about a brewery started by an investment banker and a graphic designer, but if their brewer is good, it could work. With them and ABGB set to open and the return of Celis next year, one wonders if/when the market will start to get saturated. Wish them the best.

Well, one (or more) of the Jester King guys were laywers, so...

The market will see who can deliver and who can not. The breweries who have no good products will die off eventually. The craft scene is huge right now and breweries will continue to open for a while until they begin to close.

Portland is not saturated yet and they are smaller then Austin.

True, and like I said, it all really depends on the brewer. I've actually heard good things about these guys, and some of the stuff they're trying sounds really interesting, and different from a lot of what's out there. "Plymouth Massacre" sounds great!

I disagree on that one. I think Circle is vastly underrated, and does some nice things. There are several others in town who are MUCH worse and should likely disappear sooner (but I'm not naming names)

It was partly in jest. I was wholly under-impressed when they first started by beers like Alibi, Blur, Envy, and Nightlight (and still am), but Wryteous and Epic have been pretty tasty.

But it's so much more fun when you do!

If anyone is going out of business it is South Austin Brewing. Seriously, who buys that crap?

We're a year out and they still have only have two horrible/sticky/amateurish overpriced beers. Their Saison literally offended me it was such a horrible mess. Only local I've ever drainpoured.

They have a safety net, kind of - they're going to be contract brewing the Celis beers until Christine gets the new brewery up and running.

As for their own beers, yeah. Overpriced and oversweet.

Isn't contract brewing now illegal in Texas? Or am I remembering that incorrectly?

Apparently not, because that's been their plan the whole time
