Infected Beers

    So did anyone actually enjoy the 09 abyss? Any hope?

    Yes, one was opened at the same tasting. Wasn't horrible. Just wasnt up to par with the 10. Just drink it. Might find its not infected.

    I've had four 2009s. One was infected. The longer you wait, the more sour it will taste.

    I don't mind infections as much as other people, I think. I love sours, and I actually really like sour stouts, so an accidental infection isn't always bad.

    It's when the infection gets so bad it starts tasting not just sour, but sour and cheesey...or sour and wet gym sock. That's when you just can't bring yourself to drink the beer.

    I made a pumpkin ale last year that got infected with acetobacter. IT turned into a pretty amazing sour ale that I decided to treat and then age. Keeping my fingers crossed that it mellows out by the fall, so I can oak it and blend it into a nice sour pumpkin.
