I was luck enough to find a store that still had several "infected" Matildas (4/16/10) on the shelf and I bought them. I have put this beer up for trade a couple of times and typically have seen offers that tend to be more toward quantity than quality/rarity. (ex: I traded 1 bottle for 6 off the shelf Surly brews). I guess I'm just wondering what sort of "level" does an infected Matilda fall in if I was going to go 1 for 1? Could I get a Darkness? BCBS Coffee/Bramble? Bourbon Barrel Pt5?

You just walked into a store and picked up a bunch of bottles. Infected ones at that. Why immediately jump to "what's the most I can possibly get for these?"

    1. I've had these bottles since probably November, so I'm not "immediately" jumping to it
    2. I told all my buddies about the haul and gave them a chance to buy them for what I paid
    3. I've had the beer several times myself and I'm keeping a couple for myself for the future as well.

What am I going to do with 8 bottles of infected Matilda in my fridge? I'd like to trade them to get things that I can't get around here. I obviously don't get Darkness and we don't even get regular Pt5 let alone BB. I'm not trying to screw people in trades but if I can use the Matilda to get things that I want to try but can't get what's wrong with that? I've wanted to try darkness for a long time, same with the others.

OP, it sounds like you're answering all your own questions here. You already tried trading them "a couple of times" and you're getting quantity offers, not quality. Your drinking buddies won't buy them from you at cost. Darkness, Bramble, BCBCS and BB Pt5, as far as I know, cost more than $11.99/bottle and come with fewer bottle counts, so while you're "not trying to screw people in trades," and genuinely believe you're not, it sounds like you're offering less for more, and nobody seems interested in "infected Matilda". So what do you do with eight bottles, drink them or drain pour them, so it seems.

I see where you're coming from, and actually I have sold them to my buddies first and they bought a couple each. I was just trying to prove to the guy that posted after me I wasn't buying them and then running straight to BA to try to get as much as I could for them. One of my buddies said he would buy it all off of me, but wanted to see what I could get in trades first so that we could try some new stuff.

The low price-tag on the Matilda hurts the trade value IMO. Because the store didn't even know it was any different than regular Matilda, and certainly wasn't marketing it as such. They were supposed to be shipped back to GI. It's a rare beer that tastes great.

Oh well, looks like I'll have to shell out more to get my Darkness I've wanted to try.

FWIW I loved infected Matilda and love what it turned into (Dominique). I'm just not trading at the moment, but if I were, I'd probably do 2 Matilda for 1 Darkness.

Let me know when you're trading again. I'd be happy to do this trade with you. I'm sure I'll still have a couple left.

I'd entertain a possible trade. If you still have a couple to trade, send me a BM.

Well I responded to this thread with what you were ISO, but you decided to back out. If you still want to trade the beer I would be in to working something out.

My point is that you went through absolutely no effort to get this beer, and you were able to hoard a ton of it. So why even ask "what it can land" and go after things that people had to scrap and claw for just to get 1-2 bottles? Why not be generous and offer up your unwanted bottles for new-to-you local breweries from other states? Or just give them away as extras?

Yes, a 22oz and it was awesome. Not sure how much longer it will be awesome though, so I'll drink my last soon.

I believe this was a bourbon barrel version. Not even sure if they tossed it in there knowing it was infected. I think I've heard both, but I'd guess that they didn't know going into it.
