My boss just bought a case of Infinium from a local store. An inside source we share at the brewery told him to turn around and take it back since Boston Beer did not make any of this product this year and the real shelf life is only about six months. I would agree with that...had two bottles last year, one fresh and one about ten months old. The old was close to a drain pour except my wallet would have cried and I don't like a soggy hip pocket...

Might be old news, I don't know, but figured I would pass it along just for information purpose.

Inside word is that you also shouldn't purchase the beer fresh (because it sucks).

I enjoy Infinium, have it every New Year's. Can't understand the hate. I wonder why they didn't make a batch this year, it has always sold out fairly quickly in my area at least.

That is a good one! I sure didn't purchase any more...it was OK, but for the price I expect better than OK.

Infinium, great concept of a poor executed beer. Had 2 bottle a 2011 and 2012, loved the 2011 hated the 2012, drank the 2012 at the tail end of its best before date ( yeah old beer is old).
Give me a DeuS Brut same price/roughly and close enough to style and enjoyable.

Aye. Although at least fresh it's drinkable. Old it's an instant drainpour. Either way it's not very good and the price point makes it even more depressing.

I second this. I chugged this one down to get rid of it faster because my poor wallet was deceived by a suggestion to buy it.

Didn't like it at all although it comes in a nice bottle. "Its like I took a twenty dollar bill ad flushed it down the toilet"

Our Sam Adams rep came and picked up all the old bottles at the store I work at. I'm not sure if someone returned one and created the impetus or they did it of their own accord.

I had it back in June. At first it tasted and smelled weird. Got better as it opened up but overall I wasnt crazy about it. Forgot how old it was.

hmmm...Ive had one since last christmas in my fridge. I guess I better open it before it gets worse...
Ive had before, and thought it was pretty good, intersting, and nice for a toast instead of champagne.

Really interesting story behind the beer which is why I gave it a try when it came out. It was a pretty limited release the first year and the markup on it was high. Thought it was decent but was bias because of the hype. bought only 1 bottle the following year and which was even more expensive. I can honestly say it was the worst beer for the price in my opinion. While I dont always like the beers I paid higher prices before you could age all of them. This beer deteriorates fast. Question: What other beers cost over 20$ a bottle but are not meant / can not be aged for a year

Probably rewriting history..."It sold out and was one of the best beers ever made." <said with a Jedi wave of the hand.>
