Curious to know some details both with regards to people's impression of this beer, as well as what kind of ammo it takes to land one of these. From what I've read in a couple of reviews it sounds very sweet and syrupy, but unique and pretty tasty overall. For some reason it sounds very intriguing. Having not had any Lawson's, should I go after other options that may be easier to acquire or a better representation of the "typical" Lawson's beer?
I'm not really sure how many batches there were. I've heard of a couple but I've only seen one bottle from the batch sold last year. There weren't many bottles, like all of Lawson's releases, but it did sit on shelves a while because of it's high price. If you like maple syrup I would highly recommend getting one. Stuff is delicious and yes it is somewhat sweet. If you expect a beer that was made with maple sap instead of water not to be sweet then I don't know what to tell you.
Around $30 for a 375ml, I believe. I had intentions of brewing a maple sap beer this season after trying it but got lazy.
There should be some released later this spring. Also next year should be a great year for this beer as Sean has enlarged the brewery and done a huge batch. They were serving the past 3 batches at the anniversary party a couple of weeks ago(all were stunning). It has the sweetness normally found in a trippel and IMHO one of the few extremely succesfull uses of maple.
Opened one of mine at SIPtemberfest last Sept. and it was pretty sweet and strong. Saving the second one (with nearly a year on it now) for a beer dinner as a digestif, but hoping it may have possibly dried out some. Very maple-y but good thing it is a smaller format - a little bit goes a long way!
