A friend of mine has a fridge in his basement that has over time collected a few beers that found its way to the far back. A bottle was pulled yesterday which was unfortunately frozen, but it was a La Trappe Quad (corked in what felt like a ceramic bottle) with the date 1995 on it. I don't think he has had that bottle for almost 20 years, but I googled it and found very little information. Can anyone shed some light on this bottle? I don't have a picture, but can take one next time I am over if wanted.

I was hoping for information about the beer itself, not so much if it should/can be consumed. It will be consumed next time I visit. I just can't find any mention of this beer with the year 1995 on it.

Well, we would need to know what exactly it is you want to know- meaning you've already googled it, are you looking for trade value, etc?

    My initial readings on it:
    - since it has been frozen, and who knows for how long, I would say the yeast inside are dead, so further aging of the bottle will not yield the results that one would expect from a "live" bottle.
    - la trappe is a fairly common beer, I've seen it around and have not really desired to try it out FWIW; as I understand it, it follows in the same vein as Chimay Blue or delirium tremens
    - with that said, there may be a Trappist but out there that would love to have a 95 vintage, however having frozen it will have affected its desirability
    - can I drink it? Yes, it will most likely be delicious. I would say get some NY strip steaks with some sweet potatoes and drink the bottle while BBQing.

I honestly don't know if the beer is from 1995, as it doesn't seem likely he has had it since then. I was hoping someone had some information about the years they released the quad in the ceramic crock, versus the glass bottles. I am not interested in trade values, or "how good will it still be". I didn't originally post it to this cellaring forum, but it was moved here by a mod.
