So, the GF and I have decided to throw caution to the wind, and are planning to get married next Fall (October 2016 is the target month at this point). Naturally, having a decent selection of good food and drink for friends and family is very important, which in my mind includes some nice local craft beer as well. So ideally, we'd like to find some place that might allow us to bring in our own beer and wine, and possibly our own caterer and bartender as well (just to pour the wine, champagne and beer). Neither one of us belongs to a country club or golf resort, so those options, we think, are out. We're fairly flexible as to location otherwise; right now we're looking at the Seattle, Tacoma and Portland area as preferable wedding venue destinations. Ideally, we would like some place where out of town guests have ready access to local hotels (so preferably some place that is not out in outer Mongolia), and it would be great if it's some place that doesn't have a whole lot of stairs (as the GF's mother isn't physically capable of climbing stairs any more).

We were considering Edgefield manor, but unless we hold the event outside, all the party venues there are upstairs. Also, when we held my birthday event there last June, neither one of us were particularly elated with the lodging arrangements (Cynthia is pretty certain that it would not be OK for her 80 year old mother to stay there). It's a shame, as otherwise the place was great (even if the guests were forced to drink McM beer).

Anyway, with those parameters in mind, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or recommendations.

    Thanks in advance. Cheers!

My best friend just got married at Postlewaits in Canby, so this doesn't quite meet the criteria for a central location, but it worked out okay for my friends. Most people stayed at a hotel near the airport so they could MAX it into downtown to explore and then the couple provided a shuttle bus to and from the venue. They were allowed to bring their own beer and wine and their own caterer, but I believe they had to have a Postelewaits staff member as the bartender. They have a beautiful setting for indoor or outdoor events. Both are available to you as a plan A and plan B. Let me know if you have any other questions. http://www.postlewaits.com/

    Congrats!

    Congratulations!!!

There was a bunch of words up there but all I heard was that we need to organize a pre-wedding (I won't call it a Bachelor Party) BA bottle share

My buddy got married at Aspen Hall here in Bend, about 10 min drive from downtown lodging. He brought in his own catering and beer/wine. Size dependent, I thought it was a great wedding venue. October may make the outdoor portion a bit chilly.

    Congratulations!

LOL! Just as long as I'm allowed to bring some of my own stuff as well to the share!

    And thanks!

Sounds great, but unfortunately, it's not an option. Cynthia's mom indicated that down to Portland is as far as she's willing to go (as you can guess, she's not in the best health), and my guess is that even that's likely pushing it. I know Bend would be out of the question.

    (thanks for the suggestion though!)

Congratulations to both of you John!

The new McM's in Olympia might be open by then, so maybe that's a thought? Bham is geographically unsuitable for you, but we do have a few places around that do the exact thing you're looking for, so I can't imagine there aren't facilities in the bigger cities.

What about the new McM's location in Bothell?

How many people are you expecting? The Laurelhurst Club is a great spot if you don't have more than 150 guests.

We're looking into it, and plan to stop by for a visit in a couple of weekends (I think they should be up and running by then). My GF is a bit concerned about the location I think, but other than that, we're both hopeful it might work out. While McM beer isn't my favorite, I can live with it, if everything else looks good otherwise.

We won't have nearly that many. Have read over the information on the website and forwarded it to the GF. It sounds like it might be perfect. Thanks!

Congrats John! That's awesome! I don't have any ideas for a venue though.

I went to a friend's wedding on a docked boat in the University District in Seattle. I know they had their own drinks and caterer. I'm pretty sure it's a semi-regular wedding venue. I'll try and find more info.

Thanks! Looks great, but I'm almost certain the GF will put the kybosh on this, given her mom's physical limitations. Too bad though... it looks great!

My brother got married there, they were even OK with us bringing some home brew in.

Throwing a party at The Stables in Georgetown later this Month. Partially because you are allowed to have your own Bar/tender, caterer, food truck, ect. Pretty good size space with both indoor and outdoor areas. Not a Classy wedding spot but quirky fun one maybe. http://georgetownstables.com/

    Congrats on the big day!!

SE Wine Collective is a great option on Division. No problem with bringing in your own caterer. From memory only a tap line or two for beer options, but obviously a pretty wide selection of wine to choose from.

I'll check with them (sounds intriguing), but I have a feeling they're not going to be willing to go along with our requirements. I'm pretty flexible on the local wine selection, but Champagne is part of the deal as well (and by Champagne, I mean the real stuff that's made in Epernay, Reims, Ay and the like). Nevertheless, it's certainly worth checking into.

    Thanks Branden!
