Hey BA's, I just picked up a sixer of Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout and I've also been meaning to use my randall jr more to make infused brews. Now that I have a little more time for that with the semester being over (yay!), I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for fun infusions to try. I recently had Stone's Xocoveza and I realized that beers with a bit of heat are the shit, so I definitely wanna incorporate chipotles into an infusion, but I'm welcome to any ideas!

Maybe something pastry-ish for a stout... like vanilla or Oreos or Reeses cups

Do u want to brew a beer with infusions, or, add to a commercial beer?

Randall jr. Is for infusing a single serving of beer that had already been brewed, so I'd say he wants to infuse that left hand milk stout he mentioned.

I still think vanilla is the best flavor for stout. Boring perhaps because its been done, but for a reason.

For peppers, I'd make a chipotle concentrate then add sparingly. Easy to overdue peppers.
Same goes for other ingredients , I'm not a fan of commercial extracts so use raw ingredients.

Also have no idea how your Randell works?

I'd soak some oak chips in bourbon and add some cinnamon sticks

A couple ideas that came to mind are either peppermint bark, or gingerbread cookies. Seasonally appropriate.

So this is kinda like a poor man’s Randall lol, it’s just a container you can put the infusions in and pour the beer over. I usually just let it sit for like a half hour and then use the strainer to pour it into the glass. Not sure how well a concentrate would work because it’s a liquid but you’re probably right about that being the easiest way to not OD it with spice

Very true, maybe I’ll mix that with some sort of wood chips to create a faux-barrel-aged flavor

I’ve never had any beers with mint flavors so that could be interesting
