This place/chain was the first thing that popped to mind after reading OP's comment. I pulled into one of these "Ale Houses" a couple miles outside of MCO after a very, very frustrating flight, and was sorely disappointed to discover that Yeungling was the best thing they had.

In my experience, if you're going to any public establishment, be prepared to see 90 percent crap.

Rhode Island is filled with dipshits, but you already knew that....

On to what you're really upset about though, businesses pretending to be into craft beer when they aren't. It's frustrating, especially when you love something as much as we love beer, to see people throw terms and products around without much consideration for their origin or meaning. It's like seeing all the horrid "Traditional" Italian restaurants and pizza places in this state. Just something to get the money of the people that wouldn't know a good product if it landed in their lap. But hey, that's what they like, so that's what sells. I get it. And I don't judge the crowd (nor am I implying that you do), they can spend/but whatever the hell they want. But as I say, it can be frustrating when you take it more seriously than the typical "let's make some money!" attitude.

A lot of Pubs, Irish and otherwise, in NYC call themselves: Ale House. My favorites are Ryan Maguire's Ale House and Henry Street Ale House. Going to try Capital Ale House in Midlothian Virginia tomrrow.

I find this pretty entertaining as well. Around the same realm as the far too many times I've seen Blue Moon on the Import list, you know, because it's Belgian?

This annoys me so much. I forget where I was, but it was at some bar r restaurant out here in NH. Smuttynose was not listed in the domestics. I just thought.... This beer is brewed 15 minutes from here. How in the world can you not consider that 'domestic'??

There was once a chain of restaurants called "Steak & Ale". Neither were very enjoyable.
