Get over yourselves. Try to enjoy beer and not worry about useless variance talk year to year (excluding infection or some rarity)

Another possibility: Were the lines cleaned before the first one?

I had a cellared PBR from '02 next to a fresh '14 and couldn't tell the difference.

There is almost always going to be subtle variation in any production beer, particularly at the craft production scale. I'd wager that 99.9% of people couldn't accurately identify that variation however. Having done QC side by side tests in a professional setting, I can say it is really difficult to pick up differences with two versions right next to each other, let alone months apart, or in different settings at various temperatures and serving conditions.
