I had to look, but yeah that’s her! But seriously, out of the 15 pics that displayed on my screen half had her boobs plastered as the focus in the image, lol. Again, not really a problem  , it’s just interesting she feels the need to accent those features when supposedly, according to you, she has the chops/reviews to support her page or whatever. Again, don't really care, just find her to try too hard from what I saw, so it would be a pass for me if I was on Instagram.

She probably does it because it increases the amount of followers because people enjoy looking at nice breasts. Similar reason why people post big whalez or post pictures with cool scenery or nice glassware.

But yes, she posts a more detailed description of the beers she drinks than literally 99% of Instagram does; so that's why I follow her personally.

Not that I am going to complain about the scenery she provides either; nor do I get hung up on it and feel the need to "pass" on her and judge her for wanting attention... on a platform designed to get people... attention.

It is not my intent to pick on you, but I do think this is a good opportunity for generating some awareness.

Anytime a thread about whether or not craft beer culture is [something]-ist (sexist, racist, etc) comes up, a good number of the responses are something to the effect of "no, it's not sexist--people should drink what they like, I welcome all types of people to the craftiverse!"

And I think your thread is a perfect example of how someone might be unintentionally creating an environment that's hostile to a given group--in this case, women--even though I suspect that you would wholeheartedly agree that women are just as welcome as men at the craft beer table.

Because in your post, you make assumptions about a woman's level of beer knowledge and the validity of her beer experiences based solely on something completely superficial and unrelated to the beer itself. You could have broached basically this same topic without focusing on women who pair their beers with racy selfies and photos, i.e.--

Do people take advantage of craft beer's current mainstream popularity for personal gain, like using it to gain followers on instagram?

And to that question, my answer would be yes. And my follow-up response would be that it doesn't bother me in the slightest because at the end of the day, I can choose not to follow it, and whether I follow it or not, it doesn't really impact my ability to enjoy craft beer and the culture that accompanies it.

Sex sells, baby. Or in this case... beer sells? More than sex? What has our world come to...

Good looking people + beer = win-win. No need to save the beer from exploitation.

All male dominated hobbies have this happen. Comic con used to be a true nerd sausage fest. I can't say that it's for the better now or not. Same with video games. Watching people play video games? Yeah that's a thing and half the females are showing some form of skin.

I feel bad for the gals who don't strive for attention. Many don't even know they are females on the other end. It's merely a beer photo and some insights.

    It is what is it.

For as much as they post and 'drink', they sure aren't fat like us guys. So I suspect a photo is taken and beer is either dumped or given to their sloppy boyfriend. Win for him I guess.

And don't dismiss some of these accounts are paid to create hype. 'Free' marketing to create hype on an account with 200k followers? 90% of the brewery 'reps'/pourers at my area distributor events are females. Not to say they don't know what they're doing but in a professional sense, by what theyre wearing one can assume they are a paid pourer. Other times, it's some random bearded guy who's more of a rep. Guess which one tends to
    Sell more?

Alcohol and sex have been linked since the dawn of humanity, it would be foolish to think that would change now. The only thing you really can do is control who you follow, and honestly I'm not too concerned with BeerAdvocate turning into a place for sexual experimentation :grin::grin:

Why would you feel bad for women who don't post skin?

My wife isn't remotely annoyed by beer girls who post boobs and whatnot; she follows a bunch of them.

This annoys some men, some women.. doesn't bother loads of others. My wife has a "beer insta" and doesn't post skin, she knows she could get more attention but doesn't really care. If she likes the way she looks / is dressing on a given day when she's taking a pic she might include herself in the photo, because... well.. it makes for a nice photo, and yes she might get some followers for that (it's recommended for anyone looking for followers to post pictures of themselves not just attractive women.)

And you can be fit and drink beer lol
