I've made good progress on a kegerator I've been building. However, I realized I did not order a rail for it. I see a lot of people use drawer pulls, and I think I'll do the same. Question: could I epoxy, or gorilla glue the rails in place? Or do I need to drill more holes into my fridge? Home brewers, what have you done?

Just thought I'd mention, my fridge is not like the many you see on the internet how-to's with the removable plastic lid. It's metal sealed on the insulation. So I would have to drill holes all the way through the fridge roof, and get bolts for the pulls that extend that long. I see it as: the fewer holes the better. Less cold air leaking, less chance of hitting a line and wasting the effort I've put in thus far. I guess I could adhere, and if that doesn't work, I could drill. Or maybe use a solid barrier. For instance, stain some oak 1 x 2, and adhere the narrow ends to the top where a rail would go. Or use 1 inch tile and kind of build it up. I just wanted to bounce this off others that might have been down this road. Or had a cool idea to suggest. The fridge is kind of beat up, I wouldn't want to sink much more money into it, or try to make it fancy.

I installed a 1/2" thick panel of stained maple on top of one of my conversions. it is held in place with liquid nails. edge banding was used for the sides. i had to ease out about a 1/4" to allow for the where the hinge protrudes above the surface. a few coats of ploy made virtually it water proof. I think it looks pretty good.

no rails on mine, but it would be easy to install fasteners to the panel before attaching. the tower also needs to be fastened to the panel or drilled through.

I personally dislike rails on kegerators. they are only needed if you plan to stock glasses on the surface. otherwise the rail offers nothing but expense and more work.

good to hear your kegerators is coming along.
    Cheers.

That's a good idea, making a fixed panel. I thought some marble tile would look awesome, but cutting holes through it would be time consuming and not worth the effort. Maybe a veneer though. Like a veneer on some plywood. Like I said the fridge is scratched up on the front and sides. I was even thinking of putting chalkboard paint on the outside part of the door, as that would be an improvement (and only because I already have chalkboard paint).

And ya, I would like to keep glass ware on the kegerator. I collect pint glasses. And my apartment has what I believe to be the tiny-ist kitchen ever. So I'd like to keep some on it to re-allocate space.

Or should I say facade? Something like tin / vinyl back splash tile. I was just worried the raised pattern would not allow for a good seal with the gasket / keg tower. And make storing glass wear difficult. I'd need to check it out I guess.
