Probably from a bunch of people who never had the base beer.

Izzy is BS whale in my opinion.

    1) Not that good IMHO.
    2) If my memory is correct there was either no bottle limit or a ludricrisly high bottle limit at the time of the release. Factoring in the mule quotient (multiplly the bottle limit 4 accounting for a 4 mule average per person per release) and I gaurentee that people walked out of LA at that release with many many bottles.
    3) Any trader who had any idea of what was going on dropped everything at the time of release and traded for as many bottles as possible. Thus many people I know are sitting on at least 10-12 bottle of izzy as we speak.
    4) I heard the new batch is gonna be flat.

Anytime there is a brewery f-up... Instawhale... another good example is Gargamel.

Oh no to much malt in a batch of beer? Let's sour that beer up and get us an instawhale!

The limit was a case, iirc.

I agree, I was so underwhelmed by it.
Is it actually being rebrewed or is this just another "flat abbey" joke?

If only those people sitting on a case of it shared your opinion. I'd love to be able to trade for a bottle. But with its reputation, I doubt that'll come to pass even with the new batch.

Apparently I am seriously underachieving in the mule arena.

I read somewhere that they keep making the recipe at Lost Abbey but only use it as part of a blend for one of their limited release sours. Let me find a source on that.

There's definitely people out there with tons of Izzy. I have a single one but I got it from a guy that had 9 of them.

Here is the info you seek:

"Barrels in Lost Abbey of Isabelle still exist, and the recipe is still brewed and aged. The purpose of this is for future blends (think Veritas or Sinners Blend) and super rare, one off moments for national craft beer conferences and the like."

I am pretty sure that I read in Celobrator that is was being brewed again and the brewer said he planned on it being better this time around. I might be wrong on the publication but not the info.

When was the publication? Jeremiah (brewboone) replaced Ben Johnson within the last year, so unless the publication was after Jer's post in April I'd be skeptical of its veracity. I don't think anyone involved with the brewing of M is still employed at Midnight Sun - their current head brewer doesn't even know what the recipe was.

Hmm...I can't seem to find the article online - I'm sure everyone would be interested in a few more details. That's a total about-face from what Jer said 3 months ago but I guess I shouldn't be surprised - Midnight Sun has been pretty dysfunctional lately. Perhaps it would be best to 'expect' it after we see Neptune, Wannabe, and the second batch of Bar Fly. Or it will be draft-only at the brewpub like the recent re-brew of Sloth. :-S
