Hi All, I am going to a ND football game next weekend vs Clemson. Please let me know of the spots/bottle shops to visit that carry the best stuff that is distributed in this area. Looking for 3 Floyds, 18th Street, Toppling Goliath and any other great breweries that distribute in this area. Appreciate it and cheers!
I went to my first game at ND last year when UNC came to town (ironically it was exactly a year ago this wknd). Was pleasantly surprised by how cordial the host fans were. Such a great gameday experience, amazing place. Are you flying into O'Hare? If so, I recommend stopping at Binny's flagship store in Lincoln Park (Marcey St) for largest selection. Beer Temple is another option (smaller selection than Binny's, but great shop). They'll both have 3 Floyds & Toppling Goliath. Looks like Beer Temple has two 18th Street ipa options right now. www.binnys.com www.craftbeertemple.com Personally, I'd grab Dovetail & Goldfinger for my lager needs, Hop Butcher & Phase Three for haze, Revolution for ba stouts, and Off Color Dinos'mores for a great non-ba stout. These breweries would be on the way: Old Irving, Revolution (Kedzie taproom), Maplewood, Off Color, 18th Street. (3 Floyds would add 25 min to your drive). Maplewood & More both currently have Oznr lotteries open for ba stouts releasing this upcoming week. Today is last day to enter Maplewood, tom last day for More (be sure to choose More's *Villa Park* location). Also, make sure the pickup times would work for you before entering. https://maplewoodbrew.com/events/2022-ba-cuppa-lottery https://shop.oznr.com/merchants/more fyi- Revolution's ba stouts are much more reasonably priced in terms of $/oz, and they have a good selection of variant 4pks available to-go at their taproom right now. https://www.toasttab.com/revolution-brewing-kedzie/v3 https://revbrew.com If you're flying into Midway, these northwest Indiana bottle shops have been recommended previously: Cask N Cellar (Lake Station, IN or Highland, IN) Liquor Stop (Highland, IN) Lake Station adds 15 min, Highland adds 20 min, so prob not worth it if you can figure out where to go in South Bend... Which is your original question! lol. I brought my own stuff from Chicago when I went, so I'm not up on the craft scene there. Hopefully, some of this info will be of use to you, have a great time, cheers!
South Bend Brew Works and Crooked Ewe are some better brewery options. Haven’t been in a few years so not sure if there are any newer spots. City Wide Liquors and Belmont Beverage (a couple locations) are the better bottle shops. Nearby, Bare Hands in Granger and Iechyd Da in Elkhart are decent breweries as well.
I've really enjoyed Evil Czech in Mishawaka https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/32832/ as well as Iechyd Da in Elkhart as the two best in the area.
Had no idea of this place - a little pricey, but a nice tap list! https://www.hopstationcraftbar.com/menu
Not sure how far you’re wanting to venture out from the ND area, but here’s 2 areas with multiple worthwhile stops: South Bend: the intersection of Lasalle and Niles gets you City-wide liquors, the Lauber (great food & taplist), Corby’s, and 1 block away from The Garage arcade bar. Mishawaka: downtown Mishawaka gets you Hop Station (recommended!) Sun King, Vinyl tap & table (great burger spot, decent beer selection) and several others.
