Does anyone know if La Tortuga or Anjilanaka beans can be found at any of the Intelligentsia Coffee locations in Chicago? I didn't see either one for sale on the website.

Both of those are out of season.

When they are in season - La Tortuga(summerish) Anjilanaka (Springtime-ish).......When they are in season they are readily available at their Chicagoland locations.

my wife and i were at the broadway location a couple weeks ago and grabbed a list of what they had for sale. having checked it just now, neither of them are on it. i'd suggest calling them.

That makes sense; thanks! I assume that these are both around every year when they're in season, rather than being some kind of limited, occasional, or one-off deal?

Yes. Intelligentsia buys from the Cabellero family every year and the coffee is released as La Tortuga. Intelligentsia just received our containers of coffee from Bolivia so Anjilanaka and others should be released shortly.

I picked up La Tortuga at Marianos (Western/Roscoe) about a week ago, there might be some left on the shelf.

La Tortuga has been out of the roastery for a while now, so places that have it have had it on the shelf for a couple months now and won't be very fresh. I'd recommend waiting until next year's crop comes in if you want to try it..

FYI, New crop La Tortuga will be released on Monday if you still are interested in trying it!
