What makes them monsters? It's not like they took over GI military style. They made an offer to buy, which the brewery accepted. Like it or not, it was a mutual agreement.

That analogy makes absolutely no sense. Comparing Windows/OSX to Linux would be more akin to buying beer vs brewing it yourself.

The reasons I like craft beer are focused around taste (of course), but also community. I like how craft brewers (professional and homebrew) have a tendency to share recipes, bottle swap, sit around and drink with you, etc. Anyone ever get help from Vinnie when trying to clone Pliny?? Until Coors starts supporting our craft beer community in the ways that other breweries have been since their inception, I won't be supporting them. There are hundreds of other excellent beer buying choices in the market that I'd like to support before Coors.

I think you're mistaken. I have found WAY more BA's have the "if the beer tastes good then who cares who makes it" attitude. A minority of folks will actually resist buying a bottle of, say Bourbon County Brand Stout, just because the money goes to AB/Inbev.

I know from experience. Whenever I post something along the lines of not supporting BA/Inbev or MIller/Coors I get slammed by folks asking me to get off my high horse.

Couldn't agree more! Very well said.

And with that...prepare to get slammed by the "WHAT? YOU THINK YOU'RE BETTER THAN ME!?!?!" crowd.

I'll offer them a Coors when they come over. They'll just have to stock my fridge with it first.

They're going to have some sours available on tap the week of GABF. Falling Rock is tapping "Colorambic" on Wednesday 10/10 at 5 PM. Rackhouse is doing a rare beer tasting that same night and they have three sours there. Rackhouse is also pouring Colorambic that week, definitely Friday the 12th. Troy is speaking that night with Chad from Crooked Stave and Andy from Avery for Sours 101. I heard they'll also be tapping a special keg of Apricot.

He didn't mean GI. I think he means the fact that in Houston, there were payoffs to take craft taps off and replace with AB products.

Yeah that's an example. Or that incident with brewdog not getting an award a few months back, I forget the details. Though think that was a different Macro, Dieago maybe, but also bad form/shady.

The hidden barrel room to me sounds more like a craft brewery, brewing inside a coors plant with coors funding, instead of some half assed attempt at a faux craft beer by a macro brewer. If I were local to it, I'd check it out.

I'd try their beer. And if any of you IFC watching grassroots Hipster sissy-maries have a problem with that, I'll tears ya limb from limb capishe??!!!

I'm only joking, you guys are great. But I am interested in trying some real craft from a BMC. I also wanted to try Batch 19 but haven't seen it anywhere in New York.

Supporting and unifying the local community is the basis in which these Hidden Barrel beers were born. The vision of a highly passionate and knowledge filled brewer was able to be engaged, allowed and even encouraged by way of the ability to take a direction and not have to compromise along the way. These brewers are some of the lucky few in the country that can directly interact with the ingredients that compose their beers. They vist local Colorado hop growers and get to communicate without any filters. The fruit used for these sours are not from concentrate, and are all sourced from farmers within the state. These efforts will only build and showcase what is the next step for American brewing.

Cantillon and Guezue/Geuze producers will never expand to the level to reach the demand from America. Instead, we should be excited to see more individuals taking the influences from across the pond and applying them stateside.

Ethics aside, these beers are filling a void and the future is bright with what is to come.

Give me awesome beer at a great price and I will be even happier. Doesn't matter who makes it to me.
